Troy Baker lends his voice in The Last of Us Episode 8 preview

Troy Baker voiced Joel Miller in the original The Last of Us game as well as its subsequent sequel, remaster, and remake.

Fans of The Last of Us titles will recognize a familiar voice in the preview clip for Episode 8 of HBO's The Last of Us. Joel Miller's voice actor, Troy Baker, makes his live-action debut in the series' penultimate episode as James.

We likely won't see Joe up and about until close to the end of The Last of Us Episode 8.

It appears that The Last of Us Episode 8 will pick up exactly following the events of Episode 7. We can see that Joel is still in recovery following the grave injuries he sustained in Episode 6, which forced Ellie to look after her pseudo-father and play as the protector for an entire episode.

Unfortunately, things go from bad to worse for Ellie in Episode 8. After spending an entire episode giving us a brief glimpse of Ellie's life before meeting up with Joel, the show puts Ellie in the fight of her life as James and the other settlers are out to take her down.

As has been the case for most of the season, Episode 8 will add certain elements adapted from the first game. Instead of straight up having Ellie defend herself from a group of cannibalistic settlers, the show expands on the roles of others. To be a lot more specific, the trailer sees the settler's leader, David, try to recruit Ellie, although the rebellious teenager is having none of it.

With Baker finally appearing in The Last of Us Episode 8, fans are now wondering if the original Ellie actor, Ashley Johnson, will finally make her live-action debut in the show as well.

As previously confirmed, Johnson will play Anna, Ellie's mother, in HBO's The Last of Us. But, with only two episodes left in Season 1 of The Last of Us left, it's only a matter of time before that happens. For now, those who know what's happening in the next two episodes will have a hard time getting some sleep as the show nears its end.

The Last of Us Episode 8 will flesh out a pivotal event from the video games.

Only two episodes remain in The Last of Us Season 1. The historically-successful live-action adaptation is already confirmed for a second season.

The showrunners have hinted that the show might need multiple seasons to adapt the events of The Last of Us Part II. A multiplayer spin-off to The Last of Us is also scheduled to be revealed later this year.
