The Batman runtime is nearly three hours with credits

If the reports of the runtime of The Batman are true, it would be The Dark Knight's longest outing yet.

Zack Snyder's Justice League might have been a polarizing film, but you have to give Zack Snyder props for making a superhero film that's 242 minutes long. The next DC Comics film isn't going to be quite a timesink, but it appears that Matt Reeves' The Batman is going to have a runtime that will beat 2012's The Dark Knight Rises by quite a bit.

The Batman is set to be one of the longest superhero films ever.

The last time that we saw the Caped Crusader in theaters in a solo film was in 2012 when Christopher Nolan and Christian Bale ended their trilogy with a 165-minute ride. Fast forward to a decade later and Matt Reeves and Robert Pattinson will try and outdo The Dark Knight Rises.

Although we're not quite sure if The Batman is going to do well with critics and audiences, we know for sure that it's going to make moviegoers' butts warm.

According to IMAX Melbourne, The Batman is going to have a 176-minute runtime. This would make it the third-longest superhero film, just 5 minutes shy of 2019's Avengers: Endgame. However, Rotten Tomatoes still has The Batman's runtime listed at 2 hours and 13 minutes, which is 43 minutes shorter. So, which is which? At this point, only Warner Bros. knows, just be aware that the studio hasn't officially confirmed The Batman's runtime yet.

Ultimately, it's not the length of The Batman that matters. Instead, it is how well The Batman will do at the global box office.

Warner Bros. and DC Comics haven't exactly had a good string of showings since 2020. That year's Birds of Prey and Wonder Woman 1984 weren't exactly huge hits at the global box office. The same goes for 2021's The Suicide Squad. The only silver lining here is that The Suicide Squad had rave critical reviews, but DC is in desperate need of a win after seeing how much No Way Home made at the global box office.

Can Matt Reeves' The Batman be DC's first big commercial and critical hit in at least two years? We'll find out more on March 4.

In other news, the latest The Batman trailer highlights the film's emphasis on the complicated relationship between Robert Pattinson's Batman and Zoe Kravitz's Catwoman. Also, Robert is reportedly set to star in a sci-fi film directed, written, and produced by Parasite's award-winning director, Bong Joon-Ho.
