"Stone Cold" Steve Austin surprised everyone last year when he brought an entire truckload's worth of ass-whooping over at WrestleMania 38 when he feuded and tangled with Kevin Owens. The Texas Rattlesnake's first in-ring action in years was a spectacle to behold but it left fans wanting more. After seeing him back like his old spry self, fans believe Stone Cold can do it again every year for the foreseeable future. If we believe the recent reports, the WWE might just be thinking the same.

The rumors started last year when the WWE Hall of Famer posted a video of him in excellent shape amidst rumors of another potential return to the ring. Although no new information has emerged since then, Dave Meltzer claims that Austin is "probably the surest of the three" for WrestleMania 39. Meltzer is talking about the triumvirate of Stone Cold, The Rock, and John Cena, which have been linked with WrestleMania 39 for a while.
Interestingly enough, Xero News is reporting that the WWE is talking about the possibility of bringing The Rock and Stone Cold back for Royal Rumble on Saturday, January 28, with the possibility of the two feuding for this year's WrestleMania. However, the source claims that this is all still in discussion, so things can and are likely to change.
Keep in mind that the WWE is reportedly aware of The Rock's likely unavailability for WrestleMania 39.
On the off-chance that the anti-establishment WWE Royal Rumble record holder reignites his era-defining rivalry with the Corporate Champion, we're all for it. These two men defined the Attitude Era with their legendary back-and-forth barbs as well as individual runs to the top. A vintage showdown between the two with a few months of build-up will give Triple H's first WrestleMania a huge boost.
While this is still a rumor, Triple H and the rest of the WWE management deserves credit for steadying the ship amidst the uncertainty brought by Vince McMahon's return. With Stephanie McMahon stepping down from her role as the co-CEO of the WWE and a potential sale looming over the entire roster's shadow, it's still amazing how the WWE can perform like this.
If this weekend's Royal Rumble can deliver on what many are expecting to be a memorable PPV, there'll be fewer reasons to worry about things going wrong for WrestleMania 39.
