Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 is one of the most anticipated games coming out later this year. However, there's been little to no information on it since its initial announcement. The only thing we're sure of is that Insomniac Games maintains that it will arrive this year.

Now, Tony Todd, the actor who voices Venom in the upcoming game, has handed fans a lifeline as he has revealed that the title will arrive this September following a massive marketing campaign in August.
The veteran actor provided this update on Twitter in a response to a fan query about the release date. In his words, "Looks like September! Massive publicity coming in August. Commercials start dropping in August so I’m told. Hold on to your … and hold breath! Gonna be necessary"
Todd’s statement follows that of Yuri Lowenthal, who voices Peter Parker. In a statement to CBM in January, Lowenthal had expressed his excitement about the game and revealed that Insomniac is confident about its release date.
Given the fact that Insomniac has reiterated their commitment to releasing the game this year, his comment confirmed that fans should expect the game this year. With this context, it would seem there is some truth to Todd’s recent statement.
Nevertheless, neither Insomniac nor Marvel has provided any information about the title’s release date besides the fact that it will arrive this year. Until that happens, Todd’s comment is only classifiable as a rumor and fans should take it with a grain of salt.
The original Marvel’s Spider-Man was well received by critics with much praise for its characters, combat, and story. It has a 10/10 Steam rating and is widely regarded as one of the best superhero video game adaptations of all time. The title was also widely popular with audiences.
Within three days of its release, it sold over three million units making it one of the fastest-selling video games of the year. By the end of 2022, Marvel’s Spider-Man had sold over 33 million units, thereby making it the best-selling PlayStation 4 title of all time.
Judging from what we've heard, it looks like Sony is positioning Marvel's Spider-Man 2 as its big holiday release for the year.
