Fans of Marvel's Spider-Man, the popular 2018 action-adventure game, have been eagerly anticipating its promised sequel, but the game developer has recently requested that they exercise a bit more patience.

This situation arose when a Twitter user raised a question about why the developer of the game, Insomniac Games, has not shared any details about the highly-anticipated sequel that is due to be released later this year. In reply, Insomniac Games requested more patience and reassured fans that what they are working on will be worth the wait. Nevertheless, with the game's supposed release in September, it is surprising that there hasn't been even a gameplay teaser yet.
In September 2021, Marvel's Spider-Man 2 was revealed during a PlayStation Showcase event. But, there's been virtually no updates on the game's development since, apart from its expected launch date. While fans have expressed valid concerns about the scarcity of details about the game, it's important to note Sony hasn't held a PlayStation Showcase event since 2021, which could be a reason for the absence of information or gameplay footage.
Furthermore, Insomniac Games recently livestreamed footage from Horizon Forbidden West: Burning Shores, an expansion to the 2022 RPG game, which resulted in several Twitter users expressing disappointment and calling for a livestream of Marvel's Spider-Man 2 instead. It's possible that Sony has plans to showcase the game a few weeks before its launch, following a similar approach to what they did with God of War Ragnarok.
However, this is mere speculation, and it's also plausible that Sony intends to postpone the game's release. All that's left for us to do is wait and see.
Marvel's Spider-Man, which was released in 2018 for PS4, PS5, and PC, received critical acclaim and was hailed as one of the greatest superhero games ever created. It was a commercial success, selling more than 20 million copies, and earning the title of the best-selling PlayStation 4 game of all time.
Marvel's Spider-Man 2 is set to be released on PlayStation 5.
