The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom was only recently released and to critical acclaim if we might add. But, it didn't take long for speedrunners to get away with figurative murder in the game.
Just days after its launch, a talented speedrunner has completed Tears of the Kingdom in 94 minutes.
Naturally, news of the impressive feat spread like wildfire all over the internet.
The speedrunner, gymnast86, shared footage of his speedrun on YouTube. But, it's worth noting that this is unofficial.
Speedrun.com, the foremost authority most outlets recognize for speedrunning records, won't accept entries for Tears of the Kingdom until May 26. Its upcoming event, Summer Games Done Quick 2023, doesn't include Tears of the Kingdom when it starts on May 28 either.
Speedrunning isn't for everyone, and most can't grasp why it's so popular. However, this hasn't stopped a subset of the gaming community to dedicate their lives towards breaking games and finding ways to complete them as fast as possible.
As Tears of the Kingdom is still relatively new, we can look forward to seeing shorter attempts in the coming days.
At the moment, the official record for the first game, The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild, is only 23 minutes and 51 seconds. Seeing as both Breath of the Wild and Tears of the Kingdom is of the relatively same length, a speedrunner should be able to get their completion time down to at least less than 25 minutes sooner rather than later.
Speaking of Tears of the Kingdom, the latest The Legend of Zelda game is expected to get at least one massive post-launch expansion.
