Sony's next State of Play event is finally happening and it's coming soon.

As per earlier rumors, Sony will host a new showcase on Thursday, February 23 at 4:00 PM EST / 1:00 PM PST that audiences can watch on Twitch and YouTube.
As for what the State of Play will contain, Rocksteady Studios will take center stage at the presentation with its upcoming comic book video game, Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League. Rocksteady will take 15 minutes to share "gameplay details and details". In addition, several "anticipated games" will be at the State of Play and PSVR 2 titles that are coming out later this year.
Unfortunately, the "anticipated games" will all be coming from third-party studios, as per Sony's announcement, which will effectively rule out Insomniac Games' Marvel's Spider-Man 2 and probably even the upcoming DLC for Horizon Forbidden West.
The good news is that PlayStation 5's exclusive lineup for the year has a handful of exciting titles from third-party studios, including Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth and Final Fantasy 16. Although it's highly unlikely we'll get a glimpse of either at the event, we're hoping Square Enix comes forward to give us a more narrow release date for the former. Then again, Sony didn't say that the third-party titles will be exclusive to the PS5 either.
Keep in mind that Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League is set to come out on both the PS5 and the Xbox Series S/X as well as the PC.
Although the earlier rumors definitely weren't false, that this month's State of Play won't be big, we're hoping to see more of the late Kevin Conroy as Batman.
Speaking of Sony, the PSVR 2 is scheduled to launch tomorrow, February 22. Make sure to check out our guide if you need help deciding. Finally, the February 2023 lineup of PS Plus Extra and Premium games is finally out.
