The remastered GTA trilogy might be headed to Steam and Epic Games Store

Hopeful players are still waiting on Rockstar Games to fix a laundry list of issues with the compilation trilogy.

Grand Theft Auto: The Trilogy - The Definitive Edition was Rockstar Games' well-intentioned remaster of its three most iconic titles. Unfortunately, it didn't go as well as planned. Hostile fans didn't take long to voice their displeasure with the lack of optimization and the launch issues. To make matters worse, the GTA trilogy wasn't available on most gamer's preferred platforms, specifically, Epic Games Store, and the PC.

Remastered Gta Trilogy Headed Steam Epic Games Store
Rockstar Games deserves all the criticism for the way it handled the remastered GTA Trilogy.

Rockstar's decision to release the GTA remastered trilogy on the PC via the Rockstar Games Launcher proved unpopular among fans. It's also when the deluge of complaints started as the game was rendered unplayable for days on the PC.

A year after The Definitive Edition of Grand Theft Auto came out, it looks like Rockstar has finally seen the error of its ways. According to a recent report, the PC version of the much-maligned GTA compilation will be headed to the Epic Games Store and Steam soon. It's also in line with the earlier rumors from way back last year, only this time, the British journalist responsible for spotting the new lines of code has more definitive proof.

Regardless of when the release date of the GTA Definitive Edition is on the said platforms, most fans probably only have one thing in their minds: make the games play well.

A little over a year after the remastered games came out, GTA Trilogy remains mired with an assortment of issues and bugs. It's come to a point that Rockstar has stopped listing all that it's fixed in the games and has resorted to simply listing "stability improvements across all three titles on all platforms" on the rare occasion that it's released an update.

It remains to be seen if the release on Steam and Epic Games Store will change the current state of things.

We're hoping Rockstar has better plans for the GTA Trilogy once it arrives on Steam and the Epic Games Store.

Speaking of GTA, Rockstar Games recently confirmed its plans to release a "massive multi-part update" over the next few weeks or months. Finally, Rockstar hasn't addressed claims by Microsoft that GTA 6 will be out by 2024.
