Ratchet and Clank: Rift Apart might be headed to PS Plus

A screenshot circulating on Reddit and Twitter heavily implies that the latest Ratchet & Clank game is headed to PS Plus in some form or capacity.

After making fans wait for several years, Insomniac Games came out with a new Ratchet and Clank game last year, and people loved it.

Rift Apart was nominated last year for Game of the Year at The Game Awards.

Critics couldn't help but throw praise at Ratchet & Clank: Rift Apart, with some considering it the best game in the Ratchet & Clank franchise (we ranked it second in our all-time list). Unfortunately, since it's a PS5-exclusive and quite expensive at that, many PS5 owners have not really gotten around to playing it yet. But, this might change soon after a screenshot of the game started circulating over the internet suggesting that the latest Ratchet & Clank entry is headed to the PS Plus.

Based on the said screenshot, the user is a PS Plus Premium subscriber (Deluxe in certain areas). Since no one with a PS Plus Extra subscription has reported seeing the same image, the assumption is that Rift Apart is headed to the Premium tier as a timed trial title. But, this hasn't stopped some subscribers from hoping that it's more than just a timed trial.

In the off-chance that Rift Apart joins the Premium/Deluxe tier as a free game, PS Plus users will have another reason to shell out for the most expensive variant. Rift Apart retails for $70, which is enough to extend your Premium membership by at least 4 months. Since it's joining another PS5 exclusive like Returnal, you'll effectively enjoy a little over a year's worth of Premium access for the price of two games. All things considered, that's not bad. Not to mention, Sony has confirmed that several paid games are headed to the Extra / Premium / Deluxe library, like Stray on July 19.

We're still bummed that a sequel to Rift Apart probably won't be in development until much later this decade.

Having said that, the timed trial library isn't half-bad either, as you'll still be able to access them for at least an hour.

Here's the current list of timed trials available for PS Plus Premium (it may differ depending on region):
