Radar Jammer Field Upgrade Finally Gets A Highly Requested Nerf

Radar Jammer Nerfed Featured cod vanguard warzone

The Radar Jammer Field Upgrade was introduced in Season 3 of Vanguard and Warzone. The field upgrade is used to scramble enemy minimaps. It covers a certain radius on the map, but players have complained about the radius being too big on smaller maps such as Rebirth Island and Fortune's Keep.

The field upgrade works flawlessly and is not considered to be "broken" or "too OP." The issue here has more to do with the radius scaling than the field upgrade itself.

Given the smaller size of the maps (Rebirth Island and Fortune's Keep), when the field upgrade is placed, it covers most of the area on the minimap, as the scaling on the scrambler is in line with the bigger map, Caldera.

This was obviously a major issue and allowed players to abuse it. On July 13, 2022, Raven Software tweeted about releasing an update to reduce the radius of the jammer by 20% on Fortune's Keep and Rebirth Island.

Despite the welcomed change, some still argue that the drop rate of the field upgrade should be reduced or completely removed from the game. While Raven has pushed an update reducing the radius, they haven't completely ruled out the possibility of further changes, given they are still "monitoring the engagement and feedback."

We will know how well the new Radar Jammer works on smaller maps in the next couple of days.
