Quantic Dream is the studio responsible for some of the best narrative games released in recent years. The studio's most recent titles include Heavy Rain, Beyond: Two Souls, and Detroit: Become Human. Since the release of the latter in 2018, we haven't heard much from the French video game developers. However, if the recent rumors are to go by, Quantic has been busy developing a Star Wars game for nearly two years already.

Is Quantic Dream working on a Star Wars game?

Beyond: Two Souls received mixed reviews upon release but has since been praised for its appeal to non-gamers.

The first we'd heard of Quantic's rumored Star Wars game came from a French YouTuber who claims that Quantic will sign with Disney after its contract with Sony ended. He added in his video that Quantic "will be working on a Star Wars game".

It wasn't too long afterward that notable industry insider Tom Henderson claimed that one of his sources said the same thing and that Quantic had spent the last 18 months working on the unannounced Star Wars game. The latest to chime in was Kotaku, whose own sources corroborated Gautoz's and Henderson's claims.

Unlike Henderson and Gautoz, Kotaku's report was more comprehensive. The video game website added that Quantic's latest project is a departure from its standard narrative-heavy formula. Instead, it will be a conventional action game with an open-world setting and multiplayer.

By doing a bit more digging, we found more relevant information on Quantic Dream's website that all but confirms these recent rumors.

For example, one of Quantic's job listings is for a competitive senior game designer with "prior experience in managing a meta-database in LiveOps." Another listing for a senior level designer describes the need for someone to work on an "open environment game and/or a multiplayer game."

Heavy Rain was one of Quantic Dream's first big projects for Sony.

Of course, it's worth noting that none of Quantic's listings mention Star Wars directly. However, the aforementioned listings (and others) all point towards a new direction for Quantic Dreams. As we've already mentioned, Quantic has a formulaic approach with its games. It's not for everybody, but it works. Most if not all of the studio's previous titles went on to receive critical acclaim and commercial success.

If this is true, then Star Wars fans can look forward to another must-play game - just remember that this information doesn't come from an official source.

In other news, several more Star Wars games are either in development or coming soon, such as Aspyr Media's KOTR remake, Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order 2, and an upcoming expansion for Star Wars: The Old Republic.
