Amazon’s Prime Video has released a new teaser video of its superhero television series The Boys ahead of the release of its fourth season.
The video, released via the official Vought International YouTube and Twitter channels, featured Vought CEO Ashley Barrett, played by Colby Minifie, on an earnings call presentation with investors where she outlined the company’s activities under her reign.
In the faux presentation video, Barrett announced the company is seeing double-digit growth across its different business sections. She then went on to indicate that work is ongoing on Vought Tower with progress occurring at an incredible rate and ahead of schedule.
While the plot details for the forthcoming fourth season are under wraps, Barrett gave an inkling into how the company plans to handle Homelander’s coldblooded murder of Black Noir in the third season. The recently appointed Vought CEO stated that the character has "quietly been conducting a critical mission overseas." Given that set photos that emerged last year teased the character’s return, it remains to be seen whether Vought scientists found a way to revive Black Noir or they will find a new character to don his mask.
In the video, Barrett also alluded to Homelander’s infamous murder of a civilian protestor in season three when she stated that his approval ratings are soaring despite "baseless accusations". And in what can best be described as a salvo to doubters, she compared her tenure as CEO to that of the company’s former leader stating, "We’ve accomplished more in a few months than my predecessor did in years."
Fans of the series will remember that one of the central characters, Queen Maeve, survived the battle with Soldier Boy in season three, despite leading the public to think otherwise. According to the teaser video, it would seem she succeeded in deceiving even the upper echelon of Vought International, with Barrett stating that her replacement on the Seven, as well as Starlight, is one of the works that remains to be done.
The Boys is one of Prime Video’s most successful shows with over 891 million views and consistently high ratings over its three seasons. The series follows a group of vigilantes who are determined to bring rogue superheroes to justice, regardless of the method.
Apart from Minifie, The Boys season 4 will see the return of Karl Urban, Antony Starr, Jack Quaid, Laz Alonso, Erin Moriarty, Tomer Kapone, Karen Fukuhara, and Dominique McElligott as Billy Butcher, Homelander, Hughie Campbell, Mother’s Milk, Annie January, Frenchie, Kimiko, and Queen Maeve respectively.
The show will see the addition of Valorie Curry and Susan Heyward as superheroes Firecracker and Sister Sage respectively with Jeffrey Dean Morgan, Rob Benedict, and Elliot Knight also joining in unannounced roles. Also, there's a possibility that Soldier Boy will also make a return. Supernatural actor Jensen Ackles teased his character’s return last year when he posted a featurette to his Instagram page stating that his Christmas wish was to reprise the role. Giancarlo Esposito, who starred as Vought International’s erstwhile CEO, had earlier done the same with a tweet to his Twitter account.
The Boys season 4, which began filming in August, currently has no release date, although multiple reports suggest it will premiere sometime in 2023. Nevertheless, fans can look forward to its live-action spin-off, Gen V which wrapped up filming in September 2022 and will arrive soon.
