Paradox unveils new Sims-like game Life By You

Life By You will be Paradox Tectonic’s first title since its establishment.

Swedish video game company Paradox Interactive has teased a new life simulation game titled Life By You. The company revealed the game via a teaser trailer it released as part of its announcement showcase held on Tuesday, March 6.

Life By You is headed by former Sims head Rod Humble.

While the trailer offered little in the way of information, there was enough to tell what kind of game it is. Paradox will offer more information about the title on Monday, 20th March. We do know the game will be developed by the company’s video game development arm, Paradox Tectonic, which is headed by Rod Humble, the former Executive Vice President of EA Play.

Given the fact that Humble is also a former head of the popular life simulation video game franchise The Sims, fans are hoping that Life By You will offer some worthy competition to one of the most popular video game franchises of all time in The Sims.

Humble joined Paradox Tectonic in 2019 and he defined the studio’s objective to be the development of "open, fun, beautiful games which respect the players' intelligence and enables their creativity, freedom, emotion, and sharing." Life By You will be the studio’s first game to make it to the market and will provide insight into the studio’s capability.

The Paradox Interactive announcement showcase was presented in partnership with Xbox. Apart from Life By You, Paradox Interactive showcased two other new games it is currently working on – Cities: Skylines 2 and The Lamplighters League - at the event.

The publisher further took advantage of the announcement show to reveal expansions, DLCs, and updates for its existing titles, including Crusader Kings III: Tours and Tournaments Expansion, Surviving the Aftermath: Rebirth, Europa Universalis IV: Domination, and Across the Obelisk: Wolf Wars DLC, among others.

Paradox Interactive will offer more information about the title on March 20.

Screens of the next installment in The Sims franchise, The Sims 5, leaked online late last year. While these revealed that there won’t be much of a departure from previous Sims titles, they did show greater flexibility for players when designing their living spaces and curating their virtual lives. We don't expect the title to be ready for several years.

At the moment, there is no information on which platforms Life By You will arrive on, or its release date for that matter.
