Video game developer Obsidian Entertainment and publisher Private Division have confirmed they will release an upgrade of the popular title The Outer Worlds for the PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X/S, and PC on March 7.

Obsidian Entertainment is releasing a new-gen compatible version of its popular title The Outer Worlds.

The group made this announcement via The Outer World’s official Twitter handle, where they also unveiled a 90-second-long trailer. In the Twitter post, the developer wrote, "Greetings spacers! The Board is pleased to announce The Outer Worlds: Spacer’s Choice Edition is releasing on March 7th, 2023! This upgraded version includes both DLCs, an increased level cap to 99, and more! Accept this 2-minute break to watch it now."

The Outer Worlds: Spacer’s Choice Edition upgrade will have the base game and the downloadable content packs – Murder on Eridanos and Peril on Gorgon. It will include various improvements to the original game like enhanced performance and improved visuals as well as extra animations, and higher-resolution environments, amongst other items.

For those who already have the game and its DLCs, they will only have to pay $9.99 for the upgrade. But, players who are looking to purchase the title for the first time will have to fork over $59.99.

The Outer Worlds is an action role-playing game released for the PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and Windows platforms in 2019, with a Nintendo Switch version following in 2020. Following its release, the title earned commercial and critical success and by August 2021 had sold over 4 million units.

Set in 2355, the events of The Outer Worlds occur in an alternative future where the world is ruled by mega-corporations who transport Earth residents in search of a fresh start to new planets. On one of the ships, a character tagged The Stranger gains higher physical and mental abilities after his ship is lost on the outskirts of a colony. The character, alongside his companions, then uses his newly acquired skills to war against the greed and incompetence of the mega-corporations in charge of humans’ colonization of Halcyon in a bid to destroy the establishment.

The game was originally released in 2019 for the PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and Windows platforms,

The Outer Worlds is directed by Leonard Boyarsky and Tim Cain, while Eris DeMilt and Charles Staples served as producer and designer respectively.

By the way, Obsidian Entertainment announced during E3 2021 that it's working on a The Outer Worlds sequel. However, details have been little and sparse since then and the video game developer still hasn’t provided a release date, trailer, and characters for the new title.

The Outer Worlds is not the only title Obsidian Entertainment has been busy with. Grounded, which is being adapted into an animated series, and Pentiment, were released by the studio last year, both to critical acclaim. It's also working on Avowed and has shown interest in a Fallout: New Vegas follow-up.
