The charismatic arms dealer, Yuri Orlov, is coming back to the big screen. This time, his son, Anton, is joining him for a sequel to 2005's Lord of War.

Nicolas Cage and Andrew Niccol, who previously collaborated on the first film, are set to team up again in the crime thriller sequel. Titled 'Lords of War', the film will feature Bill Skarsgard as the son of Yuri Orlov.
The plot centers around Yuri reuniting with his estranged son Anton, only to discover that he has followed in his footsteps. However, their reunion takes a dark turn when Anton builds a mercenary army to fight America's presence in the Middle East, putting him in direct opposition to his father's position.
Filming is scheduled to start in the fall of 2023, with the backing of the Vendome Group. Andrew Niccol will be in charge of both writing and directing the film, while Bill Skarsgard will serve as an executive producer alongside Philippe Rousselet and Fabrice Gianfermi. FilmNation Entertainment has secured the international sales rights and plans to showcase the film at the Cannes Film Festival. Meanwhile, CAA Media Finance will oversee the domestic rights.
Expressing his enthusiasm for the upcoming sequel, Niccol stated:
There is so much more to explore with these characters. Plato said it best — 'Only the dead have seen the end of war.' I'm looking forward to spending more time in the company of the charming devil that is Yuri Orlov and now his illegitimate son — who turns out to not be legitimate in any way.
While there is no official release date yet, we can anticipate that the film will make its debut sometime next year.
As for Nicolas Cage, the enigmatic actor previously said that he'd love to play Spectre in a live-action film in the future. Finally, Cage has revealed that he isn't interested in joining the Star Wars universe at all.
