Tessa Thompson's Valkyrie is finally going to re-appear in the Marvel Cinematic Universe following 2019's brief appearance in Avengers: Endgame. While most wouldn't be too surprised to find out that she's back with a brand new outfit, comic book fans will love how the color scheme pays homage to Valkyrie's original look.
Valkyrie's look for Thor 4 is an upgrade
Barring any delays related to COVID-19, Thor: Love and Thunder will premiere on July 8. Because we're only just half a year away from its launch, more details about Chris Hemsworth's fourth solo outing as Thor is finally starting to leak. This time around, the leak revolves around Tessa Thompson, who plays the role of Valkyrie.
In a selfie taken by the actress while appearing to be on the set of Thor: Love and Thunder (and shared on Twitter by @ReginaBenavid18) fans can see Thompson's latest outfit as Valkyrie.

Several things stand out from Thompson's selfie. For one, where did it come from? If you skim through the actress' social media accounts, you won't find it there. Another interesting part is her braid. However, long-time comic book fans will notice immediately just how Valkyrie's new costume bears a striking resemblance to the superheroine's iconic black and silver armor that she wore in the comic books many decades ago.
Thankfully, times have changed since and so too have artists' interpretations. Even if it is based on Valkyrie's classic costume, Thor: Love and Thunder have changed it to be more functional and tactical.
Despite the changes, it's hard not to see how much closer Valkyrie's latest costume is to its comic book counterpart. Unfortunately, the image itself is not indicative of anything. So far, we still have no clue just how much of a role Valkyrie will play in Thor: Love and Thunder and future MCU films. But, if we were to hazard a guess, she might end up joining the Secret Avengers although she's more likely to lead New Asgard judging by how the MCU films have portrayed her.
In other Thor news, fans got a chance to see Christian Bale's Gorr, the God Butcher, earlier this year. Meanwhile, Natalie Portman wasn't afraid to show off her "guns" as she has buffed up to presumably take on the role of Lady Thor in the upcoming MCU movie. Finally, an official poster for Thor: Love and Thunder leaked earlier than expected, giving fans a better look at everyone's latest costumes.
