"Maybe not" is what Keanu Reeves' now-iconic character, John Wick, has to say to worried fans if he'll meet his demise at the hands of whoever in the upcoming John Wick entry, John Wick: Chapter 4.
After dropping the trailer at the San Diego Comic-Con, Lionsgate Entertainment finally gave us a proper look at Reeves' fourth John Wick outing, and it's nothing short of spectacular.
Here's the official description of the trailer:
John Wick (Keanu Reeves) uncovers a path to defeating the High Table. But before he can earn his freedom, Wick must face off against a new enemy with powerful alliances across the globe and forces that turn old friends into foes.
The first trailer for John Wick 4 features several familiar faces and the series' brand of action. However, the highlight are the new characters that it will introduce into the foray. For example, the "new management", played by Bill Skarsgård, steals the show. Apparently, Wick's way out of the High Table is through the Marquis. We don't know about you, but if other assassins are bothering to tell Wick to be careful about someone, we're pretty sure they're not someone you'll want to tangle with.
In addition to the promise of an epic showdown between Reeves and Skarsgård, the trailer features everything from gun fights in a sliding car with the door open to a gunfight in the desert on horseback as well as Donnie Yen and Keanu Reeves fighting each other with guns and swords.
TLDR; John Wick: Chapter 4 will have a lot of fighting, shooting, and goofy lore.
The question now is, will John Wick 4 break tradition as one of the few fourth installments in cinematic franchises that are actually good? All signs from the trailer point to a yes. But, we'll have to wait until March 24 to find out. If nothing else, bringing Yen, Hiroyuki Sanada, and Scott Adkins, among others, will help its case.
Speaking of John Wick, Lionsgate recently expressed its desire to make a AAA video game adaptation of the series. Finally, the John Wick Cinematic Universe (we need a better name for this) continues to grow with Ana de Armas signing up to lead the upcoming spin-off, Ballerina.
