Gran Turismo 7’s next big update will add support for the upcoming PlayStation VR2 headset, which is free for GT7 owners on the PS5 platform.

Polyphony Digital has revealed new details about what fans can expect in the upcoming GT7 update. According to the first-party Sony studio, GT7 will leverage the power of the PlayStation 5 console to create a unique VR experience that's far more immersive than any of the other racing titles with VR support.
The Gran Turismo series debuted on the original PlayStation all the way back in 1997. It's since become an iconic racing sim with at least one entry released for each generation of the PlayStation console. Gran Turismo 7 is the first installment to release on two generations of the PlayStation console.
Fans were skeptical of the PS VR2 support for Gran Turismo 7 when it was first announced. Many expected the game to get a bare-bones VR experience similar to Gran Turismo Sport. Now, Polyphony Digital has detailed what is coming in the new update.
Update 1.29 will add full PlayStation VR2 support for the racing game. As previously reported, only the 2-player split-screen mode will not have VR support. Every other game mode in GT7, like the license tests and campaign missions, will get the full VR treatment. Additionally, players will have access to a new VR Showroom in the game. This new feature will allow players to admire the over 400 cars available in the game from every angle. Players can also get inside vehicles in the VR showroom.
The new PlayStation VR2 headset will have a new eye-tracking feature allowing Gran Turismo 7 to use foveated rendering. This new technology ensures that the game will always have the highest detail wherever players are looking at that moment.
The dynamic 3D audio allows players to experience "a whole new dimension of highly immersive gameplay." This new feature will make the racing experience more immersive for gamers rocking the PSVR2 headset. Gran Turismo 7 is known for its audio fidelity and realistic engine sounds.
The PlayStation VR2 headset is only supported on the PS5. Gran Turismo 7 update 1.29 will be coming on February 21, 2023, one day ahead of the launch of the new VR headset.
