Netflix reveals cast for live-action One Piece adaptation

The cast members for Netflix's live-action adaptation of Eiichiro Oda's masterpiece, One Piece, have finally been announced.

One Piece is one of the most popular manga and anime franchises in the world. To date, Eiichiro Oda's serialized franchise is still going strong, with the series' 1,000th episode set to release on November 20, 2021, and the manga already spanning well over 1,000 chapters. Because of its popularity, it makes a lot of sense for Netflix to work on a live-action adaptation of the series.

The cast for Luffy's crew in Netflix's One Piece has officially been announced.

After the live-action adaptation was confirmed some time ago, Netflix has finally revealed the key cast members for One Piece.

Who are the cast members for Netflix's One Piece?

Netflix's One Piece probably won't arrive until 2023 if not later.

One Piece takes place in an expansive universe full of interesting characters. For the most part, the story of the series revolves around the adventures of the Straw Hat Pirates led by Monkey D. Luffy. Naturally, the first cast members to be announced were of the main crew of the Straw Hats.

Here are the cast members confirmed for Netflix's One Piece:

  • Iñaki Godoy as Luffy
  • Mackenyu as Zoro
  • Emily Rudd as Nami
  • Jacob Romero Gibson as Usopp
  • Taz Skylar as Sanji

At the same time, Netflix also shared a note from Oda himself, the creator of One Piece. Unfortunately, Oda nor Netflix didn't reveal much about the upcoming live-action adaptation. To make matters worse, it appears that Oda knows that it will take a while before Netflix's One Piece will release. Oda alluded to a potential release date by saying that "it'll take a bit more time to get this show done."

Netflix's massive investment in anime is no secret. The streaming giant has already released anime adaptations of popular video games such as Castlevania with an upcoming spin-off series already confirmed. At the same time, the company revealed that Daniel Dae Kim is joining the cast for Avatar: The Last Airbender. Fans can also look forward to the premiere of the live-action Cowboy Bebop on November 19 with a Yu Yu Hakusho live-action series coming in 2023.
