"Are we alone? Are there other intelligent beings like us in the universe?" are some of the questions every human has asked at one point or the other. For decades, we have had no concrete answer to these questions. We've had plenty of conspiracy theories, but none of them have answered the questions convincingly. A new Netflix docuseries... also won't, but will definitely explore them.
Things have begun to change, depending on who you believe. In July, the US Congress held a hearing on UFOs and a whistleblower testified that they are real. Now, the Mexican Congress has also held a hearing on the same subject with researchers coming forward to show what they claim are Unidentified Anomalous Phenomena – or aliens (albeit previously being debunked).
Netflix, in its usual fashion, has taken it upon itself to shed more light on the subject through a docuseries. Titled Encounters, the docuseries features stories of these unidentified phenomena from witnesses in four different locations around the world – Japan, Wales, Zimbabwe, and the USA.
The show's description reads, "ENCOUNTERS is a landmark four-part series that travels the globe to explore four extraordinary true stories of encounters with otherworldly phenomena. Each cinematic and deeply-researched episode tells a single story: strange lights in the sky over small-town Texas; submersible space crafts haunting a coastal Welsh village; an alien encounter in a schoolyard in Zimbabwe; non-human intelligence reportedly interfering with a nuclear power plant in Japan."
From the description, Encounters explores the effect that unidentified persona has had on families, communities, and people's individual lives. The show shines a light on four reported sightings across the world and relies on "cutting-edge scientists and military personnel" to tell an accurate and believable story.
With the recent revelations that are coming to light about UAPs, Netflix could not have chosen a more auspicious time to release the docuseries. Encounters bridges the gap in public knowledge of these phenomena and helps us answer that question that has eternally plagued us.
Encounters is directed by Yon Motskin, best known for his work on Generation Hustle. Amblin Television, Boardwalk Pictures, and Vice Studio executive produced the show. Encounters will arrive on the streaming platform on September 27.
I am really into aliens and UFO stuff but I am not sure if this is worth getting a Netflix subscription for.
Going to watch it for sure but I find the timing odd... Why the sudden push of everything aliens over the last few years? Is it just becoming trendy to talk about again??
I like hearing stories from people about aliens it fascinates me.
