Dead Cells: Return to Castlevania is scheduled for release on March 6.

First announced late last year, Dead Cells: Return to Castlevania has been touted as the game's biggest DLC to date. The game will see The Beheaded enlisted by Castlevania’s vampire hunter Richter Belmont and his ally Alucard to help in the fight against dangerous enemies, including werewolves, skeletons, and vampires.

Alongside the minor skirmishes, the game’s trailers also tease two immense battles against iconic Castlevania bosses Dracula and Death. Furthermore, Return to Castlevania will feature a new storyline and introduce players to two new biomes.

The DLC will also import several classic weapons – 14 in total – from the Castlevania games, including the Vampire Killer, the Holy Water, and the Throwing Axe. Dead Cells is a roguelike-Metroidvania title originally published in 2018 for the Linux, Windows, Xbox One, PlayStation 4, and macOS platforms.

Developer Motion Twin, further released two ports for the iPhone and Android platforms in 2019 and 2020 respectively. Upon release, the title received generally positive reviews from critics. Dead Cells also achieved commercial success as it sold over five million copies by March 2021.

Castlevania, on the other hand, is a horror action-adventure game series by Konami. The first installment in the franchise was published in 1986 and numerous sequels have since followed, most of which received generally positive reviews with some of the titles appearing on numerous best games lists.

Netflix is currently developing a new Castlevania animated show titled Castlevania: Nocturne. A spinoff of the original Castlevania show, which ran from 2017 to 2021, Nocturne is still fairly mysterious. Netflix has not shown off anything apart from the show’s title, a 40-second trailer released last year, and a reveal of one of the characters.

Dead Cells: Return to Castlevania DLC will be available on the PC, PlayStation 4, Xbox One, Switch, and Mobile platforms from March 6, 2023. In the meantime, Nintendo Switch users can preorder the game for their console while PC users can preorder via the Epic Games Store.
