Monster Hunter Rise is coming to Xbox Game Pass

A new rumor suggests that Game Pass subscribers will be getting the game in January.


Update: the information below is now official. Monster Hunter Rise will be available on Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One, PS5, PS4, and PC on January 20, 2023. It will also be on Game Pass.

Monster Hunter Rise will be available on January 20, 2023, as well as the expansion launching in Spring 2023.

Some big games have come to the Xbox Game Pass this year. Notable titles that have been nominated in the upcoming The Game Awards can be found on the Microsoft subscription service such as A Plague Tale: Requiem, Tunic, and Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Shredder's Revenge.

The gaming subscription service also recently added Battlefield 2042 to its line-up. And this month, players will be getting Hello Neighbor 2 and High On Life as day one releases. Now, there are new Xbox is adding something big to kick off the new year.

There are reports that Monster Hunter Rise is coming to the Xbox Game Pass in January 2023.

Monster Hunter Rise was initially launched as a Nintendo-exclusive title in 2021. It was then ported to PC and is currently available for purchase on Steam. The base game has sold over 11 million copies since its release and the first expansion Monster Hunter Rise: Sunbreak sold an additional 4 million copies.

The new rumors suggest that the game will be coming not only to the Xbox Game Pass but to all current consoles. This means that the game will be available on PS4, PS5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S next year.

According to the reports, Monster Hunter Rise will have a full "4K60 port" with "3D audio" support for newer generation consoles. However, it is not indicated whether there will be an update for PC as well similar to how CD Projekt Red is updating the Windows version of The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt when it arrives on next-gen consoles in two weeks.

The rumors also revealed Capcom may be announcing the upcoming console version of Monster Hunter Rise at The Game Awards on December 8. There is speculation that a release date for Diablo 4 and Final Fantasy XVI may be announced in the annual awards show.

Capcom’s decision to release Monster Hunter Rise only to the Nintendo Switch took fans by surprise. Monster Hunter World was released on the PS4 and Xbox One at the same time and performed very well, selling 5 million copies in just three days.

Eventually, Monster Hunter World shipped over 20 million copies since its launch with an additional 8 million for the Iceborne expansion. Capcom may be hoping to replicate these numbers with the eventual release of Rise on all current consoles.
