Activision Blizzard recently hosted a global event to reveal Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3. As the event took place, the official X (Twitter) announced that Zombies will be making a comeback in the upcoming title.
Fans have been asking for the popular Zombies mode to return to the first-person shooter franchise, especially after the last entry, Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2, didn't feature the Zombies mode which disappointed a lot of longtime players.
According to the announcement, Modern Warfare 3 will boast the "largest Call of Duty Zombies map ever." The Zombies mode will be an open-world survival PVE experience that pits players against hordes of undead. Gamers can team up with others to fight off Zombies and other threats.
The upcoming Zombies mode will not be returning to the old round-based gameplay and instead by featuring an extraction shooter-style experience similar to Warzone's DMZ. What this means is that players will drop into a Warzone map, complete mission objectives, gather loot, and exfil out of the arena.

Players will be dropping into the map in squads of six operators, not the usual four from Warzone. There will be up to a maximum of 24 players during each round. These teams can assimilate to work on objectives together.
According to information shared by ModernWarzone, the Zombies mode will have 60-minute sessions before players are forced to exfil from the map. For comparison, DMZ matches last around 30 minutes before operators need to exit the battlefield.
Reports also suggest that aside from Zombies, gamers will also be engaging in human threats during rounds. The difficulty will reportedly ramp up as players get closer to the center of the map and will not be time-based or based on the # of kills.
The cinematic story for the upcoming Zombies mode will be separate from Treyarch's Zombie storyline.
Zombies in #MW3 is basically DMZ combined with Outbreak but without the possibility of PVP.

There are previous rumors that the popular DMZ extraction shooter mode will be put on the back burner in favor of the upcoming Zombies mode. Fans speculate that Activision will only support one extraction shooter mode.
The announcement of the strictly PVE mode has received mixed reactions from fans. Many players argue that PVP adds a level of uncertainty to the game mode. However, others are excited to finally see the mode return.
Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3 is coming to PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S on November 10.
This is the main reason I am getting MW3. I heard this is going to be the best zombie mode to date!
Big doesn't always mean better. Fingers crossed though!
It sounds promising. I am honestly more hyped about zombies in the game than the TDM at this point.
I heard a rumor that they will actually expand the zombies a bit this time with some fun DLC but this appears to be the last "COD" tied to the OG stories. So who knows.
