Every new Call of Duty game introduces a feature or two to make it stand out. But, after two relatively down years, Infinity Ward will need to step things up for this year's entry, Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2. Judging from the leaked Modern Warfare 2 footage, Infinity is up to the task.
According to several videos we've seen online over the past 24 hours, Modern Warfare 2 is going to feature a gameplay mechanic where players can jump from one vehicle to another to hijack the ride and commandeer it, ala Grand Theft Auto. Other clips show players swimming up to a dock or firing an MP7. Unfortunately, Activision Blizzard has done an excellent job sending DMCA takedown notices to anyone caught uploading the videos.
A few weeks back, we found out that Activision added a digital version pre-order bonus that gives players early access to the Modern Warfare 2 campaign on October 20 instead of October 28.
Here is Activision's description of the Modern Warfare 2 campaign:
This campaign features missions in Europe, Asia, and the Americas, and is set to be an incredible experience on numerous levels: offshore sieges with underwater combat, all-out explosive assaults from 30,000 feet above enemy strongholds, and high-stakes, low-profile stealth missions in both plain sight and under the cover of darkness.
After a few weeks of going radio silent, Activision and Infinity Ward will reveal more of the future of Call of Duty in the coming weeks. Call of Duty Next will take place on September 15. It is an event that will include more info on Modern Warfare 2, Warzone 2, and Warzone Mobile. Also, the Modern Warfare 2 multiplayer beta is scheduled right after on September 16, with PlayStation players getting early access ahead of other platforms.
Having said that, we can expect more leaks to come out in the coming days.
