Microsoft has reportedly started testing the first Forza Horizon 5 DLC

Forza Horizon 5 could be getting its first major DLC after being released last November.

Playground Games did not disappoint with the release of Forza Horizon 5. After the latest installment in its award-winning racing sim set a new Xbox Game Studios record, fans knew that it was only a matter of time before Playground expanded on the game's already massive world with a proper DLC. It appears that those expectations will be met soon after data miners discovered an interesting file inside the Xbox Insider Hub.

Fans have high hopes for the first massive post-launch content for Forza Horizon 5.

Insiders are claiming that "WOODSTOCK_DLC_FLIGHT" is the pre-launch testing file name for Forza Horizon 5's first expansion. According to insiders, the term "WOODSTOCK" refers to Playground's codename for Forza Horizon 5 while it was still in development. Meanwhile, the word "DLC" is pretty explanatory, and "FLIGHT" might refer to the testing run that Playground is conducting at the moment.

Unfortunately, this is all the information about Forza Horizon 5 that we have to go on at the moment as Playground hasn't officially revealed the expansion for the game. We also don't know what the first DLC for Forza Horizon 5 will contain. If it's any consolation, we do know that Forza Horizon 5 will at least have two official expansions as the game's "Expansions Bundle" includes two DLCs. Judging by the studio's previous expansions, Forza Horizon 5 should get something wild and creative down the line.

Ultimately, because the information comes from the Xbox Insider Hub, we can confirm that it's legitimate. Also, since it implies that the DLC is in a playable state, we could see the first Forza Horizon 5 expansion sooner than later.

From the looks of it, Gran Turismo 7 should give Forza Horizon 5 a good run for its money.

What's interesting here is that Playground is testing the DLC for Forza Horizon 5 just as Gran Turismo 7 is about to release. It appears that the recent State of Play event, which featured a half-hour of footage of the PlayStation-exclusive racing sim, was enough to send some alarm bells over at Playground ringing. At this point, we wouldn't be surprised if Microsoft confirms the first expansion for Forza Horizon 5 in March, just as Gran Turismo 7 races out the gates on March 4.
