Megan Fox enters the MK universe, as the sultry actress is confirmed to voice the warrior vampire Nitara in NetherRealm Studios' upcoming Mortal Kombat 1.
The Vampire of Outworld Nitara first appeared in Mortal Kombat: Deadly Alliance released in 2002. She would later return in Mortal Kombat: Tournament Edition, Mortal Kombat: Deception, Mortal Kombat: Unchained, Mortal Kombat: Armageddon, and Mortal Kombat 11, either as a cameo or a playable character. Nitara was also portrayed by Thai-Australian actress Mel Jarnson in the 2021 live action Mortal Kombat movie.
Ed Boon himself confirmed the casting of Megan Fox as the sultry and lethal vampire Nitara in Mortal Kombat 1. The announcement includes a short trailer with an interview of the Hollywood actress and gameplay clips of Nitara in action.

The gameplay showcases her brutal flying and claw attacks. There are also interesting dialogue interactions with Ashrah and Kung Lao, with the latter seemingly an Easter Egg reference to Megan Fox's horror-comedy film from 2009, Jennifer's Body.
Rumors about Nitara returning for Mortal Kombat 1 swirled after leaked footage showed Nitara (as well as Motaro and Reiko) spread on social media. Ed Boon would later discuss about the characters in MK1, confirming the leak.
However, it was not revealed at the time who the voice actress would be for Nitara. Interestingly, the reveal of Megan Fox as Nitara comes within the day of the full roster for MK1 apparently being leaked online.
For her role as Nitara in Mortal Kombat 1, Megan Fox had this to say:
She comes from this weird realm. She is a type of vampire creature. She's evil, but she's also good. She's trying to save her people.
I really like her. She's a vampire. Which obviously [laughs] resonates for whatever reason. It's cool to be in the game, you know? Because I'm not really just voicing it, it'll be like… she's kind of me.
Fox added why she accepted the role when the opportunity arose:
I think it's just an opportunity that anybody would want. Because we did all grow up playing the game, and it is one of the greatest video games of all time.
