Marvel SNAP, the digital collectible card game (CCG), finally releases a full Windows PC version via the Steam platform. But is it any better than the Early Access version?

Developed by Second Dinner studio and published by Nuverse, Marvel SNAP was released on October 18, 2022. While the Android, iOS, and macOS versions were released in full, the Windows PC was only an Early Access version. However, it really wasn't much more than a straight-up port of the mobile versions. This, of course, came with quirks and limitations, as PC users had to settle for playing Marvel SNAP with a non-optimized UI and the narrow vertical aesthetics.

The release of the PC version of Marvel SNAP was announced on Gamescom 2023. This was later shared on Marvel.com and the game's official social media.

Compared to the old PC port of the Early Access version on Steam, the full release of the Windows PC Marvel SNAP has significant improvements. The visuals are more vibrant, and the UI fully embraces the widescreen display. Managing the different decks and collections doesn't feel as cramped. The different tabs are pushed further to the sides, which just looks much better than the earlier Marvel SNAP port on Steam.

To commemorate the Windows PC release of Marvel SNAP, players can claim free rewards just by logging in to the game. First is the mecha variant of Devil Dinosaur. Players who already have an account find the freebie in their inbox. On the other hand, new Marvel SNAP players will be able to receive the Devil Dinosaur variant after they pass the New Player Experience gameplay.

Logging in to your Marvel SNAP account from August 22nd at 12 PM to September 21st at 12:00 PM Pacific Time will automatically reward the Mech variant art of Devil Dinosaur.

There are also daily rewards for logging in, as follows:

  • 200 Gold (August 23)
  • 65 Devil Dinosaur Boosters (August 24)
  • Mech Devil Dinosaur Avatar (August 25)
  • 500 Credits (August 26)
  • 3 Gold Conquest Tickets (August 27)
  • 300 Gold (August 28)
  • Premium Mystery Variant (August 29)

These rewards are only available for 24 hours, replaced by the next one scheduled for the date, as noted.

According to the Nuverse official Marvel SNAP website announcing the arrival of the full Windows PC version of the game:

The past ten months have flown by since we officially launched MARVEL SNAP on mobile devices worldwide. We've been humbled by the love from millions of players and honored with awards like Mobile Game of the Year, Breakthrough Game of the Year, and Best Strategy Game.

But we're just getting started! At Gamescom, we announced that MARVEL SNAP is now officially available on Steam. Everything you love about the game is now better than ever on PC, with native widescreen and beautiful gameplay, perfect for streaming.

To celebrate our PC launch, we've got awesome rewards all-week and all-month long. If you haven't tried playing on PC, now's the time to start. And remember, launching on Steam is only the beginning.

Aside from the freebie rewards by logging in to the Marvel SNAP game either on mobile or through Steam, there are also Twitch Drops. Fans can watch any channel on Twitch with the Marvel SNAP category with drops active and enabled from August 22 to August 29, 2023.

The previous Marvel SNAP Early Access version for PC was simply a port of the game for mobile devices. The updated release is optimized for Windows PC, featuring widescreen display and a more efficient UI.

The official description of the award-winning Marvel SNAP game reads:

MARVEL SNAP is a fast-paced collectible card game with innovative mechanics that has won multiple Game of the Year Awards. Build your deck of 12 cards. Each Card represents a Marvel Super Hero or Villain, each with a unique power or ability. The goal of the game is to outsmart and outwit your opponent. Learning to play only takes a few minutes, and matches only take 3-minutes.

The awards and recognitions Marvel SNAP won since its release on mobile devices include Best Mobile Game (Game Awards), Mobile Game of the Year (DICE), Top Games of 2022 (Polygon), Best Game of the Year (New Yorker), Best Strategy Game (IGN), Apple Design Award (Innovation), Mobile Breakthrough Game of the Year (Mobies), among others.

Fans and reviewers have praised Marvel Snap for its easy-to-follow rules, entertaining strategic challenges, and generally fair gameplay (although creative players have found repeatable strategies that border on cheating). The art based on Marvel Comics characters such as Iron Man and the Avengers, to Wolverine and the rest of the X-Men, Spider-Man, as well as their many villains, is also a key factor of the game's appeal and accessibility. The gorgeous superhero visuals include some variant art exclusively drawn for Marvel SNAP.

Similar to other digital card games like Hearthstone and Magic: The Gathering Arena, Marvel Snap is available free-to-play with microtransactions. But unlike other digital CCGs, the cards are not bought and the monetization is mostly for cosmetic content, such as variant card art and the seasonal battle pass to unlock limited-time rewards chains. Players can accumulate the in-game currency by playing and accomplishing tasks or by buying with real money through the in-game store.

Players can download and install Marvel SNAP through Steam for Windows PCs, Google Play for Android, and the App Store for iOS.

  1. Was waiting on some reviews before I got it. I mean to me, it seems worth it. I have wanted it on PC through Steam for ages now.
