Another martial artist just joined the cast of John Wick 4, with Marko Zaror signing up to be a part of the fourth entry in the vigilante action-thriller film series that stars Keanu Reeves as an unstoppable assassin-for-hire.
After the success of the first film, which premiered in 2014, Reeves has starred in two more sequels. In addition to this, a fourth one is currently being filmed with a premiere date of May 27, 2022. A fifth film is also in the works and was originally intended to be filmed back-to-back with the fourth installment.
Confirmed cast members for John Wick 4
Hot on the heels of the success of John Wick: Chapter 3 - Parabellum, Lionsgate confirmed that a fourth and fifth entry to the series is coming.
With the fifth one likely to be years away, we should focus on John Wick 4 for now.
The official title for the fourth John Wick film is John Wick: Chapter 4, although this might still change. A trailer has not been released yet, but there is a lot of hype surrounding the upcoming film. This isn't just because it's a John Wick movie. A huge reason for all the talk is the star-studded cast that's set to join Keeves' fourth outing as John Wick.
Here is a complete list of all the cast members confirmed to join John Wick 4:
- Rina Sawayama
- Donnie Yen
- Shamier Anderson
- Bill Skarsgard
- Hiroyuki Sanada
- Scott Adkins
- Laurene Fishburne
- Lance Reddick
Now, you can add Marko Zaror to that list, along with rumors that the film is looking to cast Wesley Snipes in a role that's reportedly similar to his Blade character.
According to reports, Zaror's role in John Wick: Chapter 4 will see the martial artist take on a villainous turn.
Zaror is a former stunt performer and double. He later made a name for himself in movies like Machete Kills and Alita: Battle Angel, as well as TV shows like Dusk Till Dawn: The Series and Marvel's: The Defenders.
It's nice to see John Wick: Chapter 4 continuing the series' penchant for hiring actors with martial arts and action experience. Even though Reeves isn't exactly known for his martial arts, he has starred in numerous action films before. He has also trained in numerous martial arts over the years and is known to be one of the most dedicated actors in Hollywood. However, while Reeves can get away with the help of some Hollywood magic, there's no substituting genuine martial arts expertise.
To that end, the cast of John Wick: Chapter 4 has got to be the most lethal yet. In addition to Zaror, the film boasts the services of Yen, Sanada, and Adkins, which should result in some very realistic and brutal fighting scenes.
Besides, the film's director, Chad Stahelski, is a stunt performer and coordinator himself. We can expect him to work his performers to the bone to make sure that John Wick: Chapter 4 is just as good if not better when compared to its predecessors.
Of course, the film wouldn't be here if not for the performance of the rest of the cast members. Ultimately, it's a team effort, and with the amount of talent that Stahelski has at his disposal for John Wick 4, we can expect nothing short of excellence from the film.
Here's to hoping that we'll get a chance to see a glimpse of what Stahelski has managed to accomplish with his all-star cast for John Wick 4 soon.
Speaking of Stahelski, the John Wick director is also set to work on a Ghost of Tsushima movie adaptation. It is unknown when filming of the said movie will begin. Although we shouldn't expect to hear more about it until after Stahelski has had a chance to take a breather from the John Wick films
