What is Magic: The Gathering Arena?

Magic: The Gathering Arena (also often called simply Magic Arena, MTG Arena, or MTGA) is a digital version of the popular collectible card game from Wizards of the Coast.

The game was initially thought to be an upgrade to Magic Duels, completely separate from Magic: The Gathering Online. However, Magic: The Gathering Arena evolved into its own game. Many consider Arena to be ideal for the casual and contemporary fans of the CCG. However, it has grown in popularity for both beginners and long-time Magic: The Gathering fans alike.

Magic: The Gathering Arena (aka MTG Arena) captures the fun and strategy of the tabletop CCG!

The visuals and interface have similarities to another digital collectable card game, Blizzard’s Hearthstone (based on the Warcraft universe). New players can jump in quickly, as the game offers free decks and additional cards that can be earned through tutorials and story play. More than that, the bulk of the game is aimed toward competitive and casual one-on-one duels with other players.

Magic: The Gathering Arena also offers different modes of play, including Standard, Alchemy, and Historic. There are also special rotating modes. Playing games and season tournaments reward players with Gold, as well as potentially earning new booster packs of cards, special Avatars, Gems, and Pets.
