Madden NFL 21 Blitzes To EA Play

EA has announced that the most recent annual American football series will join EA Play on March 2, 2021. This also means that the game will enter Xbox Game Pass Ultimate, as EA Play is part of the subscription tier.

Aside from the game, EA Play subscribers will also receive three (six for EA Play Pro tier) Gold Team Fantasy packs for Madden Ultimate Team every month.

What Is Madden NFL 21?

Madden NFL 21 is a game based on the US National Football League (NFL). It is one of the longest-running video game franchises and the longest-running sport's title.

Madden NFL 21 was featured as part of the Free Play Days weekend a few weeks ago. By March 2, it will be fully available to EA Play subscribers without further restrictions. Madden NFL 21 was released for PC, PlayStation 4 and Xbox One on August 28, 2020. On December 4, 2020, it was released on the current generation consoles, PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X/S.

The game received lukewarm reception due to technical issues, however the gameplay was unanimously praised. One major criticism of Madden NFL 21 is, just like every annual sports game, it is a derivative of the previous year’s installment, with zero innovation.

What Is EA Play?

EA Play on Steam

EA Play is a subscription service available across PlayStation, Xbox, and PC, similar to Xbox Game Pass. EA Play is also available on Steam, aside from EA's own storefront, Origin. However, EA games still need the Origin launcher on top of Steam. There is also a variation of EA Play available across others platforms.

EA Play is available for $5 per month on PlayStation, Xbox, and PC and the accounts are not cross-platform. On the other hand, Xbox Game Pass Ultimate members also get EA Play included with their $15 per month subscription that also includes all first-party Xbox games and a library of titles that may be shared across Xbox and PC, while also offering the cloud gaming service XCloud.

EA Play has an introductory price of just 99 cents for the first month which will expire on March 9. Only those who have never before subscribed to the service may take part in this promo. EA subscriptions are available monthly or by year and can be canceled any time. This service also includes a 10% discount on all EA Games, which can also be used on in-game content. EA Play also provides for 10-hour trials for newly released EA games.

EA Play Pro is only for PC and removes the 10-hour trial and gives full access to the new games as long as the subscription is active. EA Play Pro is $14.99 a month or $99.99 for a full year.
