Lionsgate hires Ruben Fleischer to direct Now You See Me 3

The director previously helmed blockbuster titles Venom and Uncharted.

According to a recent report by Deadline, Lionsgate has hired Ruben Fleischer to direct the next installment of Now You See. In addition, the studio has also hired Seth Grahame-Smith to write the movie’s script. Also, Bobby Cohen and Alex Kurtzman will reprise their roles as producers; however, we cannot confirm if Roberto Orci will do the same.

Lionsgate has hired Ruben Fleischer to direct the next installment of the Now You See Me franchise.

Fleischer is a veteran director with numerous credits under his belt. He previously directed blockbuster movies like Zombieland 2, Venom, and Uncharted. Equally, Grahame-Smith has previously worked on The Lego Batman Movie and Pride and Prejudice and Zombies.

The movie follows "Four Horsemen" who perform magical tricks to audiences across the United States.

Here's what Fleischer had to say about his appointment as the film's director:

There are three things in this world I absolutely love… Jesse Eisenberg, Woody Harrelson and magic. To have the chance to work with these two talented actors, as well as rest of the incredible cast of the ‘Now You See Me’ movies is a dream come true. I am a lifelong fan of heist movies – I love getting drawn in by the twists and the mystery where nothing is what it seems. And that’s even more true when the thieves are magicians – the opportunities are endless. Eric was able to unlock a fresh and exciting way into a new movie and fun new characters, so I’m excited to dig in even further.

The first movie in the franchise was an instant hit when it came out in 2013, which enjoyed a sequel in 2016. Fans and critics alike loved both installments. In total, the movies have made over $687 million at the global box office.

At the moment, Lionsgate has not provided any information about who the members of the cast will be. However, a close look at Fleischer’s statement reveals that Jesse Eisenberg and Woody Harrelson will, at the very least, feature in the movie. Other main cast members from the franchise’s previous installments are Dave Franco, Isla Fisher, Mark Ruffalo, Michael Caine, and Morgan Freeman.
