Although James Gunn is now the Co-CEO of DC Studios, he still has one more entry for Marvel Studios with GotG Vol. 3. With Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania kicking off Phase 5 but suffering a huge second weekend box office drop, fans are hoping the third Guardians of the Galaxy film can produce a bigger bang for the MCU. However, the official poster featuring the cast received mixed reactions, particularly with how Nebula was depicted.

Check out what Karen Gillan had to say about that poster image in the details below.

Karen Gillan was all smiles when she went on her Tiktok to give her take on the awkward pose Nebula has on the GoTG Vol. 3 poster.

Compared to the other members of the cast, Nebula’s pose stood out, but for the wrong reasons, which fans openly ridiculed.

Okay can anybody out there tell me what I was thinking when I decided to pose like this on an international worldwide poster that will remain for evermore? I remember doing this pose and thinking, "I think I look pretty cool here". So I take full responsibility for this choice. But oh my god, what am I leaning against? What is my elbow doing?

Jokingly, Gillan tries to recreate the pose. The actress continued by relating how she herself was perplexed when she looked at the poster once it was out:

Nope doesn't look good now either does it? Maybe I should double down and try to make this pose a thing. Maybe I'll do it on a couple of red carpets, see if it takes. I stared at it for so long I was like, "Oh, maybe I’m reaching for a weapon to take out and fight someone", and then I remembered that I'm not wearing a holster or anything that would carry a weapon. So, it's not that either.

Interestingly, while Gillan does go at length with regard to the pose, she does not say anything about the odd proportions Nebula has, which makes her look somewhat masculine. Although fans poked fun at the pose, they had more negative reactions to how the poster seemed to deliberately downplay Gillan’s curves. Some fans have even gone so far as stating it looks like Gillan's body was replaced with a man's through photo-manipulation:

But is this the last we will see of this pose that went viral? Gillan says it’s likely to show up again in the future:

You'll be seeing that pose again somewhere when you least expect it. I'm going to bring it back for its return.

Did Gillan inadvertently confirm that Nebula is one of the guaranteed survivors by the end of GotG Vol. 3? After all, director James Gunn promised there will be major deaths in the third Guardians of the Galaxy movie. Plus, Will this mean Nebula will be appearing in an upcoming Marvel Cinematic Universe film or series on Disney+?

Downplaying Nebula's (Karen Gillan) sex appeal on the GotG vol. 3 poster doesn't seem to faze Star-Lord (Chris Pratt) in this scene.

Produced by Marvel Studios, Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 hyperspeeds toward its North American theatrical release on May 5, 2023.
