Jon Bernthal will reprise Frank Castle role in Daredevil: Born Again

Daredevil: Born Again is currently filming and is slated for release in Spring 2024.

Jon Bernthal is reprising one of his most popular roles ever as The Punisher in the upcoming Daredevil: Born Again. With filming currently ongoing, the actor has been practicing and getting himself in shape for the demands of his role.

Jon Bernthal is currently training for his role as The Punisher in the forthcoming Daredevil: Born Again television series.

This isn't the first time Bernthal's return was rumored. In March, a video of the actor doing fight training in the gym surfaced online. Now, a new video is making the rounds that show him working on his shooting skills.

Taran Tactical Innovations, a Simi Valley, California-based firing range, where the actor trains, posted the recent video. The clip showed Bernthal firing two different guns – a pistol and a rifle – at dummies in a test of his reaction time. The actor is accompanied by Thomas Jane, who portrayed the character in the 2004 film The Punisher.

Incidentally, Bernthal’s first appearance as The Punisher came in the Daredevil television series which aired on Netflix from 2015 to 2018. Apart from Bernthal, Daredevil: Born Again will see Charlie Cox reprise his role as the titular character from the original series.

The show will also star Vincent D’Onofrio and Sandrine Holt as Kingpin and Vanessa Fisk respectively with Michael Gandolfini, Michael Gaston, Margarita Levieva, Arty Froushan, and Nikki M. James also cast in undisclosed roles.

Daredevil: Born Again is created by Matt Corman and Chris Ord, who also serve as executive producers alongside Chris Gary, Louis D’Esposito, and Marvel Studios President Kevin Feige. Michael Cuesta, who has worked on Dexter, Homeland, and True Blood, will helm the first episode.

While The Punisher is probably Bernthal’s most popular role to date, the 46-year-old has featured in a diverse number of popular Hollywood projects, including The Walking Dead, How I Met Your Mother, Eastwick, Wolf of Wall Street, Sicario, Ford v Ferrari, American Gigolo, and the Oscar Award-winning film King Richard.

The studio will reportedly begin filming its forthcoming Fantastic Four reboot next January. This news comes amidst reports that Margot Robbie has been offered the role of Sue Storm aka the Invisible Woman and Paul Mescal has been offered the role of her brother Johnny Storm aka Human Torch. Adam Driver is rumored to be in negotiations with the studio for the role of Reed Richards.

Daredevil: Born Again will see Charlie Cox reprise his role from the original series, alongside Vincent D'Onofrio.

Unfortunately, the ongoing strike by members of the Writers Guild of America has led to the indefinite postponement of the Mahershala Ali-led Blade reboot. The film, which was on track to begin filming this summer, was undergoing a rewrite, which the strike has now halted.

Daredevil: Born Again is slated for a Disney+ debut in early 2024. Daredevil: Born Again will break the trend of recent television series as it will feature more episodes, with 18, than is the norm these days.
