John Cena officially confirmed for title match at WrestleMania 39 in April

Triple H has an embarrassment of riches for WrestleMania 39 with several big names lined up already and he's still not finished.

It's official, John Cena will appear in his first WrestleMania since 2020. After his Firefly Fun House match against Bray Wyatt at WrestleMania 36, Cena will square up against who many have compared to the 16-time world champion in the past. We can only assume that it's by design that Cena will fight Austin Theory for the United States Championship, a belt that was synonymous with the earlier years of Cena in WWE SmackDown.

Wouldn't it be amazing to see Austin Theory become a face after WrestleMania 39?

Cena confirmed his match against Theory at WrestleMania 39 on April 1-2 in Los Angeles as part of his appearance on the Monday Night RAW brand in front of his hometown crowd of Boston.

As the face of the WWE for more than a decade, Cena is a future Hall of Famer. However, because his Hollywood career has taken off in recent years, wrestling fans haven't seen him all that often inside the squared circle. Cena has stuck around to fight at least once every year to keep up his streak but his return at WrestleMania 39 is excellent news.

Unfortunately, the 45-year-old will only become more in demand in the future as James Gunn implements his plans for the DC Universe. He's more than young enough to wrestle but his commitments might make this impossible. If his appearance last Monday was any indication, fans welcome every chance to see Cena that they can get.

At WrestleMania 39, Cena will have a chance to put Theory over the top with a potentially historic performance.

WrestleMania 39 might be the last time we'll see John Cena in the WWE in a while.

If nothing else, Cena, the ever-consummate professional, got millions of audience members to care about Theory and the upcoming matchup in one night. We'd love to know more about when we'll see Cena again in the WWE. But, for now, we'll have to settle with seeing him, arguably, for the last time this year in Los Angeles on either April 1 or 2.

The WWE is starting to flesh out its plans for WrestleMania 39. In addition to Cena vs Theory, Brock Lesnar will also square up against Omos in a battle of heavyweights. Of course, the main draw is Cody Rhodes vs. Roman Reigns. However, we can expect the WWE to confirm Logan Paul vs Seth Rollins as well as Sami Zayn's match against The Usos any day now.
