Jason Momoa shares more about his villainous role for Fast 10

The Aquaman actor has confirmed that he will be teaming up with Charlize Theron's Cipher. the Fast and the Furious franchise's first central antagonist.

Charlize Theron's Cipher is the first overarching villain that the Fast & Furious franchise has had in its two-decade run, which is fascinating when you think about it. Preferring to work behind the scenes, Cipher shares connections with most of the villains that Vin Diesel's Dom Torreto has faced off against in the past, including Jakob Torreto, Dom's long-lost younger brother who was portrayed by John Cena in last year's F9.

Jason Momoa is best known for playing either heroes or villains who aren't exactly evil.

With Jakob now presumably working together with Dom as part of his much-memed family, it appears that the next film in the series, Fast & Furious 10, will see Cipher rope in a new accomplice in Jason Momoa.

Jason Momoa's involvement in F10 was confirmed a few months back and he was revealed to be playing the role of a villain in March. Now, Momoa dropped more details about his turn to the dark side in F10 with ET, where the Aquaman actor explained that he is going to share scenes with Charlize Theron and Vin Diesel.

Specifically, Momoa mentioned that he's excited that he's working with Vin and Charlize, as well as the rest of the whole cast.

2017's The Bad Batch is probably the closest thing that we've seen Momoa play a "villain" in a while and even then, he turned out to be one of the good guys.

Unfortunately, Momoa stopped short of talking more about his role in F10, but we do know that he'll be playing as a "flamboyant bad boy", so we're curious to find out exactly how he's going to take to it.

Despite all the criticism, Fast and Furious has done an excellent job casting its villains. Nearly everyone that Dom and his family have gone up against has been memorable. Not to mention, the actors all seem to enjoy playing their parts. Even Idris Elba, who joined the series' spin-off, Hobbs & Shaw, worked well within the context of the Dwayne Johnson-led corner of the film's universe. It will be interesting to see Momoa go back to playing a villain after seeing him cast as a protagonist for such a long time.

2021's F9 was one of the biggest hits of the pandemic box office era, earning $721 million worldwide despite all the lockdowns and restrictions. The first half of the two-part sequel will look to take things further and go back to making at least a billion dollars at the global box office once it premieres in May 2023.

Jason Momoa also played a Drug Lord in 2017's Once Upon a Time in Venice.

Speaking of Fast and Furious, it appears that The Rock is never coming back. After Diesel publicly asked his former co-star to come back to end the series, The Rock declined to return and wants to get his time with the franchise over with after the second Hobbs & Shaw film.
