For all intents and purposes, the late Jason David Frank is the OG Power Ranger.

Jason David Frank, a renowned martial artist and actor who is perhaps synonymous with the Power Rangers franchise, has passed away at the age of 49.

Frank's manager, Justine Hunt, disclosed the actor's untimely death in a statement:

Please respect the privacy of his family and friends during this horrible time as we come to terms with the loss of such a wonderful human being. ‘He loved his family, friends and fans very much. He will truly be missed.

Frank debuted as Tommy Oliver, the Green Power Ranger, in the 1993 classic TV series, Mighty Morphin Power Rangers. However, unlike the original five actors and rangers, Frank originally signed on for just 14 episodes. However, Frank's characterization was so popular that the showrunners brought him back as the White Ranger. Since then, Frank's name has been linked with the Power Rangers brand as he's appeared in several iterations over the next two decades.

After starring in Mighty Morphin Power Rangers through its end, Frank later returned and starred as the Red Zero Ranger in Power Rangers Zeo, as the Red Turbo Ranger in Power Rangers Turbo and as the Black Dino Ranger in Power Rangers Dino Thunder.

On top of his contribution to the Power Rangers franchise, Frank is a World Karate Union Hall of Fame inductee and fought professionally from 2008 to 2010, winning his only fight via a Rear Naked Choke Submission.

Frank is set to appear post-humously in the upcoming film, Legend of the White Dragon, which premieres next year.
