Insomniac Games has an update on Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 release date

The developer promises to provide more information soon on the game’s release date, pre-orders, and accessibility features.

Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 is one of the most anticipated games of the year. Insomniac Games originally announced the action-adventure title at the PlayStation Showcase in 2021 but it did not provide much detail, including the game’s release date.

Marvel's Spider-Man 2 will feature Peter Parker and Miles Morales as two playable characters.

After Sony revealed the title’s gameplay trailer at the recent PlayStation Showcase on Wednesday, the studio revealed that the title is not a co-op game and will, instead, feature both Spider-Men as playable characters that gamers will switch between.

In addition, Insomniac Games promised to share more information about the game soon.

In a post published to its Twitter account, Insomniac acknowledged fans’ questions about the game. The developer then stated that it will soon provide more news on the title, including its release date, pre-orders, and accessibility features.

It wrote, "Watching your reactions today has been spectacular. We know you have tons of questions about Marvel's Spider-Man 2 and we're eager to share more soon, including news about the release date, pre-orders, and accessibility features."

When a fan, @jayethehuman, asked for more information on the preorders under the studio’s tweet, it responded with the words, "We will give you advance notice on pre-order launch."

Last December, Sony revealed that the game will arrive this fall. However, the company did not provide a concrete release date, and that has led to many reports and speculations about its release date.

In March, Tony Todd, who voices Venom in Marvel’s Spider-Man 2, stated that the game will be released in September after a massive marketing campaign planned for August.

Last month, an industry insider, Jason Schreier, corroborated Todd’s statement when he speculated that Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 release is a factor in Sony’s decision to delay the release of Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League.

Marvel's Spider-Man 2 will see our heroes take on Kraven the Hunter and his soldiers.

While both sources sound credible, they neither represent Sony nor Insomniac Games. Because of this, their comments are, at best, clarified as rumors. However, Insomniac’s tweet hints that the studio will have more, this time official, information for us soon.

By the way, the new Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 trailer looks a little sinister. Unlike the first game, which featured a jolly Peter Parker, the trailer shows that Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 will feature an aggressive and impatient version of the character.

It also shows him fully embracing the symbiote and using it to wreak massive havoc on his opponents.

Even though we haven’t played the game yet, we believe the immersive experience it provides and its badass fight scenes will make it a Game of the Year contender.

Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 will arrive on the PlayStation 5 at a yet-to-be-confirmed date this fall.
