The Lament is an Exotic Sword that can be acquired in Destiny 2: Beyond Light. Needless to say, it is required that you purchase the Beyond Light DLC before you can unlock The Lament.
When the first team of raiders completed the Deep Stone Crypt, other parts of Destiny 2: Beyond Light were unlocked. Arguably one of the best-looking swords is The Lost Lament and below are the steps on how you can acquire it.

How To Get The Lament
To get the ball rolling, you must visit Banshee-44 in the Tower as this triggers the Lost Lament quest.
Your first objective is to find the three Dead Exo Locations. These are found in Europa. There are a total of nine Dead Exo Locations and you only need three. Below are the easiest Exo locations for this quest.
Dead Exos' Locations
- Cadmus Ridge - A snowy ridge in Europa. Enter the area from Variks and you must hang left and search for a snow cliff. Jump on top of the bank and there is your first Exo.
- Perdition Lost Sector - The second Exo is also found in Cadmus Ridge, just go to the Perdition Lost Sector. The Exo is found in the boss room. You must run through the Perdition Lost Sector and defeat the boss at the end. The blue Exo is sitting near the crate of the Exo area.
- Concealed Void Lost Sector - Go to the Asterion Abyss and run to the Concealed Void Lost Sector. Just like the Perdition Lost Sector, there is also a boss here, defeat it. Your final Exo is sitting next to the round Fallen object on the deck.
Find The Giant Exo
Your second objective is to locate the Giant Exo hidden in the Exo facility.
You can find the Giant Exo head in the BrayTech facility off Cadmus Ridge. Open the door of the office building. Head to the right of the entryway.
This place is kind of confusing traversing without a guide. The game will provide you with the directions by marking the quest on the map.
Following the path that the game gave you, you will encounter a large number of Vex. You can't miss the Giant Exo head in that area. Activate and interact with it for the next objective.
Defeat 100 Vex
Here is the part that you will hate: you need to kill 100 Vex with swords. Sounds tedious? You then need to kill 20 Minotaurs, Hydras, or Cyclopses using swords with final blows in Europa.
Cadmus Ridge is the place to be. The best places are the east side, Asterion Abyss, Bunker E15, and Perdition Lost Sector.
Complete The Exo Challenge and Empire Hunts
After you finish the grueling task of killing all those things, you must unlock Empire Hunts, then complete an Exo Challenge.
For the Empire Hunts, you must complete Variks' post-campaign quests and end the Dark Priestess Empire Hunt successfully.
Defeat Vex With Final Blows
After completing an Exo Challenge it is time to kill creatures again. Go back to the Perdition Lost Sector and use an auto rifle until you can finish a Vex. Repeat 60 times.
Find The Blade Pieces
The Glassway is the next place to go. You will need to find the blade pieces here.
Complete The Glassway Strike like how you would normally finish it and the boss will just drop the blade pieces when it is about to die.
Go Back To Banshee-44
Talk to Banshee-44. When he sees the blade, he will remember things of the past. After some tinkering, he will return the sword pack to you. It is still unusable though...
Abandoned Bunker Loot
Land on Europa and go straight to Eventide Ruins. Complete the Bunker E15 Lost Sector and you will have the Lost Lament blueprints as loot.
Reforging the Past and Return to Banshee-44
Go interact with the Reforging quest flag after you exit Bunker E15 Lost Sector. This should trigger the mission.
Grab a tank, run over some Vex. Clovis AI will call for your assistance after a while. Fight through the BrayTech lab, through Creation, and all the way to the Giant Exo head.
Clear the place of Vex, and then put the broken blade on the pedestal. The Clovis AI will reforge the blade. You can now equip it and start owning your enemies!
You can go back to Banshee-44 to know more about the sword if you want.
