How to Prepare for Hu Tao's Banner

With the release of Hu Tao just around the corner, everyone is grinding events and Primogems in Genshin Impact, in order to get an extra pull when her banner comes. Hu Tao is an upcoming Pyro Character and her banner will be released this March 2. You can pull from her banner called Moment of Bloom for a chance of getting this character.

Hu Tao Skills

Hu Tao's attacks will be converted to Pyro Damage when she enters the Paramita Papilio state.

Hu Tao is a Pyro Character that uses her HP to deal a lot of damage. Her weapon is the Polearm and she is known to be the Director of the Funeral Parlor in Liyue. Below is the description of Hu Tao's Skills and Attacks.

Secret Spear of Wangsheng

Hu tao does six rapid strikes as her normal attack.

The Secret Spear of Wangsheng is Hu Tao's normal and charged attacks. She performs up to six rapid strikes and her Charged attack lungers her forward and deals damage to enemies on her way.

Guide to Afterlife

Activating Guide to Afterlife will let Hu Tao enter the Paramita Papilio State.

Activating Guide to Afterlife will consume the HP of Hu Tao and knockback enemies, she enters the Paramita Papilio state.

Paramita Papilio

Depending on the HP you have before entering the Paramita Papilio state, Hu tao will have an increased ATK that cannot exceed 400% of her base ATK. Her attack damage will be converted to Pyro elemental damage and she cannot be interrupted. Hu Tao can only exit this state once the duration is over or she dies.

Blood Blossom 

When you are in the Paramita Papilio state, you also apply the Blood Blossom effect to the enemies you attack. The Blood Blossom effect will apply Pyro Damage to your enemies every 4 seconds.

Spirit Soother

The Spirit Soother deals a lot of Pyro Damage and regenerates Hu Tao's health.

Spirit Soother is her ultimate and she deals massive Pyro damage on her enemies. This attack is an AoE and when Hu Tao attacks the enemies, she regenerates her health. She can stack this effect up to five times.

Hu Tao Upgrade Requirements

Hu Tao's talents and level cap can be removed using various materials.

Before rolling for Hu Tao in her exclusive character banner, you may want to farm her upgrade and ascension materials first. Below are her ascension and talent ascension upgrade requirements:

Diligence Books

The Guide to Diligence is needed to level up the Talents of Hu Tao.

To upgrade and ascend the talents of Hu Tao you will need diligence books. You need all of Teachings, Guide, and Philosophies of Diligence to upgrade Hu Tao. You can farm these books in the Taishan Mansion in the Jueyun Karst. To access the domain, you need to be Adventurer Rank 26 and above.

Crown of Insight

The Crown of Insight is a material needed for leveling up the talents of your characters.

Another item you need to max out the talents of Hu Tao is the Crown of Insight. Unfortunately, you can only obtain this item through events like the Chalk Prince and the Dragon. If you upgrade the Frostbearing Tree in the Dragonspine area to level eleven, you can get one Crown of Insight. Use this item wisely as it cannot be obtained through normal farming.

Shard of Foul Legacy

The Shard of Foul Legacy can be obtained by defeating Tartaglia.

You will need a lot of Shard of Foul Legacy to upgrade Hu Tao's talents. You can farm this item by defeating Tartaglia and entering the Golden House Domain that is set to level 70. You can only access this domain after completing the Chapter "A new star approaches" and you can do this once a week.


The Whopperflower is an enemy that drops the Nectar Item.

Nectar is needed to upgrade and max out Hu Tao's talents and remove her level cap. You can farm Nectar by defeating Whopperflowers. You can get Whopperflower nectars with any Whopperflower but you can only get the Shimmering Nectar and Energy Nectar when the Whopperflowers are level 40 and 60.

Silk Flowers

The Silk Flower is a common flower found in the Liyue Region.

The Silk Flowers are a common item in the Liyue Region. You can easily obtain these flowers by buying from the Liyue NPC Vendors or gathering them in the Liyue Harbor. You can also find Silk Flowers near the Wangshu Inn. You can buy Slik flowers from Ms. Bai and Verr Goldet.

Agnidus Agate and Juvenile Jade

Defeating Andrius can drop the Agnidus Agate item.

The Agnidus Agate can be obtained by defeating Pyro Regisvine and Pyro Geovishap located in the Liyue Region. You can also challenge the Wolf of the North and get Agnidus Agate. You will also need the Juvenile Jade, which can be obtained from the Primo Geovishap.

Hu Tao Banner

The Hu Tao Banner will be live on March 2, 18:00.

The Hu Tao Banner will be live on March 2, 18:00 server time. The banner will run until March 16, 15:00. Afterward, patch 1.4 is expected to come live. Just previous exclusive characters, the rate for 5-star characters is 0.6%, and 4-star characters and weapons have a drop rate of 5.1%. 3-star weapons have a drop rate of 94.3%.

Aside from Hu Tao, you also have an increased probability for characters like Xingqiu, Chongyun, and Xiangling. You are guaranteed a 4-star whenever you roll 10 times and you have an increased 50% chance of getting the exclusive characters.

Hu Tao

Hu Tao is a pyro damage dealer in Genshin Impact.

Hu Tao is a pyro character that deals with massive damage and can work as your main DPS. She works well with other pyro characters which activate the elemental resonance fervent flames, which increases your ATK by 25%. However, Hu Tao uses her HP when dealing damage so it may be hard to manage if you are new to Genshin Impact.


Xingqiu is a great support damage dealer for the Hydro element.

Xingqiu is a Hydro character that is great at dealing burst elemental damage. Xingqiu is a great support DPS character for your team. This character also applies the wet status to your enemies easily, making it great for a lot of elemental reactions. Xingqiu is an amazing addition to characters that are Electro or Pyro type.


Chongyun is a 4-star Cryo Character in Genshin Impact.

Chongyun is a good DPS for a Cryo team setup. He can be a good main DPS for your team because he can easily spread Cryo elemental reactions on his enemies. Chongyun uses claymore when attacking. However, his skill duration can be slow so he is mainly used for his attacks and consistent damage.


Xiangling is another pyro character in Genshin Impact.

Xiangling is another Pyro character that you can get in Genshin Impact. You can easily pair her with Hu Tao and other Pyro characters. She is mainly used for her elemental burst and fast attacks. You can also build Xiangling to be a physical damage dealer.
