Marvel's Avengers is a fun AAA superhero romp that frankly took way too long to happen - the MCU started all the way back in 2008, with The Avengers dropping in 2012. It's quite amazing that we didn't get any proper, big blockbuster games capitalizing on the phenomenon (technically we still didn't since this game is a different continuity) before Square Enix joined the fray.
Now, Marvel's Avengers is out, and you can get even more features out of it by linking your Square Enix account. Here's how you can do just that.

Create a Square Enix account
Luckily, the process is very simple in order not to scare away the tech unsavvy, and since every game, service, website and app out there requires at least one account these days, it shouldn't be entirely unfamiliar to anyone either.
Simply navigate to the account creation page at sqex.me/link and follow the on-screen instructions to create your own Square Enix account, provided you don't already have one. You'll need an e-mail address to activate it with, but who doesn't have one these days?
Link your Square Enix account with Marvel's Avengers
When you first launch the game, it will prompt you to link the account right off the bat, making this impossible to miss. The game will throw up a special nine-digit code for you to enter on your Square Enix profile, or to scan a QR code. Alternatively, you may link the game via e-mail, for which you need to press the in-game prompt and enter your e-mail address. You will get another activation e-mail with instructions enclosed.
This will complete the linking process automatically, and you have nothing else to do other than play and enjoy the additional features including Multiplayer, updated, additional playable heroes and more!
Can you play without linking your Square Enix account?
Technically yes, but the majority of the game's features, as well as all future content, will be locked away. Playing the vanilla game alone is still possible, but the experience will be greatly diminished - not that you have any reason not to link your account!
