How to farm money in Hogwarts Legacy (best methods)

Here are some of the best ways you can make thousands of Galleons in Hogwarts Legacy.

Like any other game, Hogwarts Legacy also has an in-game economy and, thus, in-game currency, which is used for almost everything in the game. You can purchase ingredients, potions, recipes, furniture, decor, and more using the in-game currency called Galleons.

There are various methods of earning Galleons, but most of the methods are gradual and slow. Some slow methods include looting treasure vaults, eliminating enemies, and clearing bandit camps. However, there are three main ways you can make a lot of Galleons in Hogwarts Legacy.

Selling Gear

One of the earliest and fastest ways to earn money is by selling old gear. Hogwarts Legacy is all about upgrading and finding new gear. Once you have better equipment, go to any of the vendors and sell your old gear for profit.

The good thing about finding any gear in this game is the ability to keep its design and look. Even if you get a new gear with better stats, you can change the appearance of your new gear to match the previously owned gear. The appearance is automatically saved when you collect any new piece for the first time. This allows you to constantly sell old gear without having to worry about losing your favorite look.

Disillusionment Chests

The second yet slower method of earning some quick Galleons is opening the Disillusionment chests (or the Eyeball chests) scattered throughout Hogwarts Legacy. Unfortunately, these chests are limited, and once you've acquired them for the first time, you won't be able to reap the rewards from them anymore.

When traversing through Hogwarts, you must have come across a chest with an eyeball on it. And you might have noticed that you cannot open the chest when you get close to it.

You can only open the chest when invisible, which is possible by casting the Disillusionment spell. You get the Disillusionment chest relatively early in the game, taught by a fellow student named Sebastian Sallow, after completing the first Defense Against the Dark Arts class conducted by Professor Hecat.

Once you've acquired the spell, use it to go invisible and approach the eyeball chest to open it. You will earn 500 Galleons for each chest opened.

Selling Beasts

Finally, we have come to the most profitable and the best money-making method in Hogwarts Legacy as of right now. However, this method will only be available once you've unlocked the Room of Requirement and unlocked the Nab-Sack. The Nab-Sack is used to capture beasts in Hogwarts Legacy. You can either bring them to your Vivarium (pet home inside your Room of Requirement) or sell them for profit.

You will get the ability to capture the beasts after completing the quest called 'The Elf, The Nab-Sack, and The Loom.' This quest becomes available after you've completed the following main quests:

  • Percival Rackham's Trial
  • The Helm of Urtkot
  • Beast Class

Make sure you've completed the Beast Class quest, and then return to your Room of Requirement, where Deek will greet you in a cutscene and introduce you to the Nab-Sack. This is the commencement of the 'The Elf, The Nab-Sack, and The Loom' quest.

Complete the quest, and you will have indefinite access to the Nab-Sack in the form of a spell.

Now that you have access to capturing beasts, you can rotate between two Puffskein dens to collect them until your Beast Inventory is full. There are two locations nearby which you can rotate between.

The first is the Puffskein Den east of the Forbidden Forest Foo Flame fast travel waypoint or south of Hogsmeade.

As you capture them, they will start to run away and scatter. Use your Revelio spell to highlight them if you're having a hard time finding them.

You can also utilize the Levioso spell to briefly make them float in the air, making it easier to capture them. Or you can use Arresto Momentum that slows both enemies and objects down, and these Puffskeins are no exception.

Once you've captured the Puffskein from both these dens (or more if you know the locations), go to your map and wait to skip time. Skip time two times to pass one full in-game day.

When you return to the dens after skipping time, you will find a new batch of Puffskeins just running around. Repeat the same cycle until your Beast Inventory is full, and you can no longer capture anymore.

Now, make your way to Brood and Peck in Hogsmeade. It is located in the northern section of Hogsmeade.

And that's how you can make a lot of money in Hogwarts Legacy. Out of the three, selling beasts is the fastest and the most profitable method, and it is the one we would recommend to you as well.
