House of the Dragon Season 2 is almost done with filming - A few days ago, the show completed location shoots in Bourne Woods, Surrey, and moved back to Leavesden Studios for the remaining scenes. During the outdoor filming, the House of the Dragon crew shot the Battle of Rook's Rest, a massive fight scene that will reportedly rival some of Game of Thrones's biggest battles.

According to the fansite Redanian Intelligence, the Battle of Rook's Rest is part of the show's fourth episode, titled A Dance of Dragons. The House of the Dragon crew has been filming the scene for some time and the fact they are now moving indoors means they have completed the shoot - now it goes for post processing.

Battle of Rook's Rest is one of the biggest and most consequential battles in Fire & Blood, the book House of the Dragon is adapted from. The battle sees Rhaenys Targaryen, the Queen Who Never Was, and an ally of the Blacks take on Aegon and Aemond Targaryen, who fight for the Greens.

The three Targaryens have their dragons in tow and they engage in a fierce battle a thousand feet in the air. When the battle is over and the dust settles, Rhaenys and her dragon are dead, while Aegon and his dragon sustain significant injury. Aemond and his dragon emerge in good shape.

The Battle at Rook's Rest's significance means that news of its completion will be greeted with fanfare by House of the Dragon fans. Rhaenys's death sowed discord in the camp of the Blacks and could very well have split them, thereby spelling the end of their campaign. Fortunately, they worked through their differences and were able to keep a united front against the Greens.

House of the Dragon Season 2 has been filming in England since April. Unlike other shows of American origin, the Game of Thrones prequel is mainly unaffected by the ongoing WGA and SAG-AFTRA strikes. The reason for this is that the show's scripts were ready before the WGA strike began. Secondly, most of its actors are British and, as a result, are affiliated with England's union of actors Equity.

Because of this, they are not involved in the strike action of their American counterpart SAG-AFTRA and can keep filming. If Redanian Intelligence is right, House of the Dragon Season 2 has about one month of filming left.

House of the Dragon Season 2 should arrive on HBO and Max in 2024.
