If you share Ron Weasley's arachnophobia and find spiders nerve-wracking, then the latest patch for Hogwarts Legacy is sure to please you.

The game now features an arachnophobia mode, which allows players to modify the appearance and sounds produced by spiders. This mode aims to assist players with arachnophobia in assuaging their fear of spiders while playing the game. It takes inspiration from Lupin's Boggart-Banishing Spell, outfitting spiders with roller skates while removing their unnerving skittering and screeching sounds.
Furthermore, the game has removed spider ground effect spawners and made static spider corpses in the open world invisible. However, players need not worry about getting stuck as Collision remains active even when this setting is toggled, which is accessible through the game's accessibility options. Unfortunately, individuals with severe arachnophobia may be disappointed to learn that spider images in the Field Guide remain unchanged.
The latest update also introduced new dialogue lines for Ignatia Wildsmith, which will trigger the first time players discover a Floo Flame location. This update is a welcome change for gamers who previously had to endure repetitive dialogue from Ignatia every time they walked near a Floo Powder location.
Players can now enjoy unique dialogue each time they discover a new location, which will occasionally include valuable as well as new information. For instance, when a player discovers Cragcroft for the first time, Ignatia advises them to be more cautious of the Lord of the Shore, a reference to the Graphorn that players face during the San Bakar's trial.
Some of the other notable additions and fixes include:
- Added support for the new Professor Ronen Cosmetic Set Twitch Drops
- Resolved Lodgok’s Helm of Urtkot quest lock, preventing players from
- continuing with the quest
- Did some laundry after students pointed out that robes looked dirty
- Multiple save game fixes
- Identified and resolved multiple collections and Field Guide Page issues
- Resolved multiple issues that could cause the player to fall out of the world
- Resolved multiple potential crashes
- Performance fixes and optimizations
In what's unlikely to be a coincidence, the update was launched alongside the release of Hogwarts Legacy on PlayStation 4 and Xbox One. To date, the game has sold over 15 million copies and generated more than $1 billion in revenue worldwide, making it the fifth game franchise of Warner Bros. Discovery to achieve this milestone. Other franchises within this exclusive category include Mortal Kombat, Game of Thrones, DC, and LEGO games.
Hogwarts Legacy is scheduled to be released for Nintendo Switch on July 25.
