Hogwarts Legacy has an overwhelming amount of content that may catch players by surprise. Apart from casting magical spells, the game has everything one would expect a wizarding world to have, including flying broomsticks, mythical creatures, and of course, potions.

Potions are a critical aspect of Hogwarts Legacy and they can help you during combat significantly. Mastering your potion-making and utilizing them at the right moment can make a huge difference when engaging in a spell-off with the evil Ashwinders.
Interestingly enough, as you progress through the main story quests, you will come across an assignment given to you by Professor Sharp of Potions Class. The first assignment he gives you is to acquire a Focus potion and use it. The second part of the assignment is to acquire Edurus and Maxima potions and activate them simultaneously.
In Hogwarts Legacy, you have two options to get the potions. The first is to purchase the potions by talking to Parry Pippins in J. Pippin's Potions store in Hogsmeade.
Or, you can purchase the recipes for your needed potion, collect ingredients, and brew the potions at the potion brewing table in your Room of Requirements.
This guide will serve as a guide for acquiring all the known potions in Hogwarts Legacy and complete Professor Sharp's first assignment. We've also listed the locations of all the ingredients for each potion. You can purchase potions and recipes after completing the main quest, Welcome to Hogsmeade.
It is also worth noting that once you've acquired the ingredients from a certain location or cleared an enemy den, you can always wait to skip time and respawn them. You need to wait at least three to four times by going to your map. You will see the button assigned to the 'wait' feature at the bottom of your screen. If you're on a console it is usually the right analog stick that you must press. And if you're on PC, it is the 'F' key on your keyboard. Make sure to leave the area where you kill the enemies before you wait.
Wiggenweld Potion
Wiggenweld Potion is one of the first potions players learn when they attend the first Potions class with Professor Sharp. The recipe is automatically unlocked, and players can brew the potion when the option is available. Wiggenweld Potion heals a portion of a player's health during combat. The effectiveness and the amount it heals can be upgraded through the Talent menu.
Ingredients
There are two simple ingredients needed to brew the Wiggenweld potion: Horklump Juice and Dittany Leaves.
Horklump Juice
Horklump Juice is one of those ingredients which is readily accessible in caves and their entrances. More specifically, the Treasure Vaults. You will find plenty of Horklump Juice spawns outside the Treasure Vaults. You can go to any Treasure Vault and will find it there. You can also purchase it from J. Pippin's Potion store in Hogsmeade for 50 Galleons.
Another good location is the Horklump Hollow cave north of Hogsmeade. You will find plenty outside and inside the cave.
When you enter the cave, you will find plenty of these with some more surprises. Horklump Juice also spawns in Spider Lairs. You can also find some Dittany Leaves inside the Horklump Cave, which is our second ingredient needed for this potion.
Dittany Leaves
Dittany Leaves can either rarely be found growing inside caves (one of them being the Horklump Hollow), or you can purchase some from The Magic Neep in Hogsmeade for 100 Galleons.
However, the best method to obtain the Dittany Leaves would be to grow your own inside your Room of Requirement. It takes 10 minutes for Dittany Leaves to grow.
Focus Potion
The first potion is the Focus potion. As mentioned before, you can purchase the recipe from Parry Pippins for 1,200 Galleons or the potion for 300 Galleons. You can brew the potions yourself if you choose to purchase the recipe. However, you will need to collect some ingredients first.
Ingredients
The Focus potion requires three main ingredients: Lacewing Flies, Fluxweed Stem, and Dugbog Tongue. Drinking this potion will reduce the cooldown period of your spells.
Lacewing Flies
You can find Lacewing Flies all over the world of Hogwarts Legacy. They are shiny butterflies usually flying over lush green bushes in the world. They are hard to miss, but here are some easy locations to get them. You can also find Lacewing Flies on the side of the road that leads from Hogwarts to Hogsmeade. The following locations are near a Floo Flame fast travel point just outside of Hogwarts.
You can also find at least four bushes on the west side of the Floo Flame Fast Travel point.
Fluxweed Stem
Fluxweed Stem can either be grown in your own Room of Requirement plant pot or purchased from The Magic Neep in Hogsmeade.
You can purchase the seed for 350 Galleons to grow it yourself or the Fluxweed Stem for 150 Galleons.
Dugbog Tongue
The Dugbog Tongue is obtained by killing Dugbogs that are usually found in the southern area of the world map, where most of the swampy regions are located. You can go to the Northern South Sea Bog Floo Flame fast travel point and look around the swamp to find many Dugbogs.
Make sure to use the Revelio spell to reveal the hiding Dugbogs. If you get too close, they can jump you with attacks that cannot be dodged.
Edurus Potion
Edurus Potion is another important potion that can increase player defense and covers their body in a rock-like shield. You should already have the recipe if you progressed through the story and reached Professor Sharp's first assignment. Or you can purchase it for 300 Galleon from Parry Pippins in Hogsmeade.
Ingredients
There are two main ingredients for this potion: Ashwinder Eggs and Mongrel Fur. Both are easily found in the open world.
Ashwinder Eggs
Ashwinder Eggs are usually found near rocky and mountainous areas. One of the best locations to find Ashwinder Eggs is northwest of Hogwarts. Specifically near the Quidditch Arena. There is a Foo Flame Fast Travel point just north of the Quidditch arena called Mooncalf Den. From the Fast Travel point, start walking south along the mountain base, and you will see bright orange eggs.
Continue moving down the path, and you will come across some more. Use your Revelio spell to see locate them easily.
Mongrel Fur
Mongrel Fur is probably the easiest ingredient to come by as these are obtained by killing "possessed" wolves that you see all over the Forbidden Forest. Go to the Forbidden Forest, and kill the wolves to obtain the Mongrel Fur.
Maxima Potion
Maxima Potion increases the damage a player deals by casting spells for a period of time. You can purchase the recipe for 500 Galleon from Parry Pippins store or purchase the position itself for 300 Galleons.
Ingredients
Just like the Edurus Potion, Maxima Potion also has two major ingredients: Leech Juice and Spider Fang.
Leech Juice
Leech Juice can be easily found near water bodies like rivers, swamps, and lakes.
Spider Fang
Spiders are in abundance in the Forbidden Forest. You can find a lot of Spiders at Spider Lairs.
Invisibility Potion
The Invisibility Potion, as the name suggests, grants players the ability to go invisible briefly. While invisible, players will not be damaged for the duration of the invisibility. The invisibility potion recipe can be purchased from J. Pippin's Potion store for 800 Galleons or the potion itself for 500 Galleons.
Ingredients
There are three main ingredients you need for an invisibility potion: Leaping Toadstool Caps, Knotgrass Sprig, and Troll Bogeys.
Leaping Toadstool Cap
These are the red mushrooms that you can find all over the world of Hogwarts Legacy. Especially out in the wild, like the Forbidden Forest. You can teleport to the Forbidden Forest Foo Flame Fast Travel point and cross the entrance bridge to find some to your right on the ground.
You can also find some directly to your left after crossing the bridge near the water.
You can also find plenty more in East Hogwarts Valley.
Knotgrass Sprig
Knotgrass is easy to obtain. There are two ways you can get this. The first is as simple as buying it from Timothy Teasdale of The Magic Neep in Hogsmeade for 150 Galleons.
The second is to grow it yourself after purchasing the seeds from The Magic Neep for 350 Galleons. Each growth cycle lasts for 10 minutes and yields 5 Knotgrass Sprigs.
Troll Bogey
Troll Bogey is easily obtained by killing Trolls. You can go to the Troll Lair east of Hogwarts. There are several Troll Lairs, but this one is the quickest to get to as it is in the Feldcroft Region.
Each troll kill guarantees at least 4 to 5 Troll Bogeys. You can also purchase the Troll Bogey from J. Pippin's Potion Store in Hogsmeade for 100 Galleon each. Killing the trolls is the most effective way of getting these, as you get multiple for free.
Thunderbrew Potion
Next up, we have the Thunderbrew potion. This potion creates a "storming thunder" that stuns enemies. You can either purchase its recipe from J. Pippins Potions store for 1,200 Galleons or buy the potion for 1,000 Galleons.
Ingredients
There are three main ingredients for this potion: Leech Juice, Shrivelfig Fruit, and Stench of the Dead.
Leech Juice
As discussed earlier, Leech Juice is easily found near river banks, lakes, and water bodies.
Stench of the Dead
As intimidating as it sounds, it is just as easy to get it as long as you have a "pyro" spell such as Incendio. The stench of the dead is obtained by killing Inferius. Inferius are undead creatures that roam the land around Hogwarts. They are usually found in Cemeteries, which happens to be their lair. There is an Inferi Lair just outside Keenbridge.
Use your Incendio spell on the Inferius to mark them. Once they're marked with fire, you can damage them. If you do not use your Incendio or any other pyro-related spell, they will be invincible.
Shrivelfig Fruit
Shrivelfig Fruit is obtained either by purchasing from The Magic Neep for 150 Galleons each or by planting it by purchasing its seeds for 450 Galleons.
If you do plan on purchasing the seeds and planting them, you will need to purchase a medium-sized pot table. You cannot plant the Shrivelfig on small-pot tables. You can purchase the new table from Tomes and Scrolls in Hogsmeade. The cheapest medium-sized pot table costs 750 Galleons.
Once you've acquired the medium-sized table, conjure it in your Room of Requirement and plant the Shrivelfig Fruit. It will take 12 mins to grow, and it will yield five Shrivelfig Fruits.
Felix Felicis Potion
The Felix Felicis Potion is exclusive to players who pre-ordered the game on their PS5. The potion reveals all the locations of large loot chests on the Minimap for one in-game day. Currently, the recipe is unknown. We will update this guide as soon as we have any information.
