Hideki Kamiya just casually confirmed Bayonetta 4

After confirming many years ago that he already has plans for Bayonetta 4, the longtime series director casually brought up the fourth Bayonetta game again.

Hideki Kamiya Confirmed Bayonetta
Spoiler alert: Bayonetta 3 will throw most theories you have about the Bayonetta games out the window.

The largely divisive ending of Bayonetta 3 set up Viola, who was apparently the daughter of Luka and Cereza (who later took on the mantle of the titular protagonist), as the next lead in the series if and when a fourth game happens.

Unfortunately, neither Nintendo nor PlatinumGames has explicitly confirmed that Bayonetta 4 is in the works. But, if you ask Hideki Kamiya, a fourth installment is all but a sure thing. Kamiya's latest comments about Bayonetta 4 came as a response to fans on Twitter where he claims that a lot of people didn't really understand what the ending of Bayonetta 3 was trying to say. Kamiya also clarified that players who finished Bayonetta 3 will understand the events of Bayonetta 4 easier.

Confusing doesn't even begin to describe what just happened in Bayonetta 3. Near the end of the game, we found out that a different Bayonetta had starred in each of the series' three games. Furthermore, it appears to be a family affair. Cereza, the Bayonetta that you play as in the third game, is the daughter of Rosa, from the first game. The Bayonettas combine to take on the big baddie of the game, and well, a lot of things go down best experienced on your own.

In any case, Bayonetta 3 sets up Viola, the daughter of the unlikely aforementioned couple, as the main star. But, considering the "formula" of the Bayonetta series, the fourthquel will likely take place in the far future where Viola already has an offspring. This would continue the series' tradition of offsprings taking on the mantle of their parents.

Be warned, it takes a while to wrap your head around the Bayonetta 3 ending.

Having said that, PlatinumGames' recent partnership with Nintendo implies Bayonetta 4 will come sooner rather than later.
