Paramount+ has dropped the first trailer of the highly anticipated Yellowstone prequel, 1923, giving fans something to look forward to this December. Introducing Harrison Ford and Helen Mirren as Jacob and Cara Dutton, Paramount+ released the trailer during the season 5 premiere of Yellowstone earlier this week.
Set to premiere on Paramount+ on December 18, 2022, 1923 is the second spin-off joining the Yellowstone universe following the recently concluded ten-episode prequel, 1883, which is set during the post-Civil War era. The trailer highlights several scenes such as gun fights, brawls, war, violence, and a voice-over narration from an unknown character stating:
Violence has always haunted this family. It followed us from the Scottish highlands to the slums of Dublin. And it followed us here. And where it doesn't follow, we hunt it down. We seek it.
1923 is set 100 years before the events in the main Yellowstone series and will follow Jacob Dutton, the head of the Dutton family, and his wife Cara as they manage the Yellowstone ranch during the Prohibition era and a period when the world is still recovering from the First World War and the influenza pandemic.
As the Great Depression looms closer, crime and violence become the order of the day, it sets a dark and grim tone for the series.
The series is set to run for two 8-episode seasons with an ensemble cast:
- Sebastian Roche
- James Badge Dale
- Darren Mann
- Michelle Randolph
- Brian Timothy Geraghty
- Jerome Flynn
- Marley Shelton
- Aminah Nieves
- Timothy Dalton.
Taylor Sheridan and John Linson will continue to serve as executive producers. Given how popular Yellowstone is, it would be fair to say that 1923 will debut with high ratings.
Taylor Sheridan seems unstoppable now, as he is already planning on another spin-off titled "6666," which is set in the present day on the Four Sixes Ranch in Texas. It's expected to be out on Paramount early next year.
