- Fans eagerly awaiting Ghostrunner 2's release can now experience a sneak peek through the recently launched demo.
- Sony's State of Play event surprised viewers with the announcement of the Ghostrunner 2 demo, available on multiple platforms.
- The demo reveals an upgraded protagonist and offers a glimpse into the fast-paced, cyber-enhanced world of Ghostrunner 2.
Sony's State of Play event delivered a motherlode of exciting news, ranging from a glimpse of Helldivers 2's gameplay to a confirmation of an expansion for the remake of Resident Evil 4. Sony also used the event to announce the release of a demo version of Ghostrunner 2, with the full release coming soon after.
The announcement was a surprise to everybody who tuned in to the event - we definitely didn't see it coming. Nevertheless, it was a pleasant surprise as it offers fans an opportunity to get a taste of the game ahead of its release next month. Sony announced that the title is now live on the PlayStation 5 but we know that this is also true of the other platforms the game is headed to.
The demo announcement came with a new trailer that shows the protagonist getting an upgrade. From the dialogue, we know we will get a faster, stronger, better equipped, and more vicious Jack than we saw in the first game. Given how strong and fast the original Jack was, we can't help but wonder at what the upgrade will look like.
Ghostrunner 2 is set one year after the events of the original game. Once again, we will see Jack, the protagonist of the first game, take on enemies that stand in the path of his goal. Unlike the first title, Ghostrunner 2 will see Jack leave Dharma Tower for the world outside.
Last month, developer One More Level released an exciting story trailer that made our mouths water. The trailer showed a formidable cyber-esque villain giving our protagonist a choice: join us or run. Naturally, Jack chose the latter just before going on a rampage and laying waste to a horde of enemies.
Alongside the demo trailer, Ghostrunner's publisher also put up a post to the PlayStation blog. Thanks to the post, we know Jack will be going up against the Church and Hammers who have filled up the power vacuum left behind after the events of the first game.
Despite how formidable they seem, we know that Jack will not give in to their threats. We trust our ninja protagonist will fight like a demon to defend his beliefs. As long as he'll have his trusty katana, his wit and lightning-fast combat skills, and his devilish ability with a motorbike, we don't have a doubt he'll rain hellfire down on them.
While this is scary hours for the Ghostrunner's enemies, it makes for a pleasurable experience for us. With the demo, we have a chance to glimpse just how enjoyable the gameplay can get before its full release in October.
Ghostrunner 2 will have multiple editions, including the Standard Edition, the Deluxe Edition, and the Brutal Edition. The game is available on preorder and will come with bonuses for those who buy it early.
Every edition will have the base game and the Traditional Katana Pack. The Deluxe Edition comes with five extra cosmetics packs while the Brutal Edition comes with everything the Deluxe Edition has as well as 48-hour early access, a Season Pass, and an exclusive in-game skin.
Ghostrunner 2 will launch on the PC, PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X, and Xbox Series S on October 24.

Maybe I am stupid or something but I can't find the demo on PC! What launcher is it??
The new enemies excite me. I can't wait to to some combat in this game.
