Ghost of Tsushima Developer Reportedly Working on Multiplayer Title

After spending the better part of the past decade working on Ghost of Tsushima, Sucker Punch Productions is already laying the seeds for their next video game. Apparently, the studio isn't working on a new single-player title. Rather, if we're to believe their recent job listing, the developers' next project is a multiplayer game.

Sucker Punch Productions might have inadvertently let details of their next title slip by via a recent job ad.

A New Multiplayer Title from Sucker Punch Is In The Works

The developer of Ghost of Tsushima, Sucker Punch Productions, has mostly worked on single-player titles throughout the years. This includes the aforementioned Ghost of Tsushima game. Its other big titles include Sly Cooper and Infamous, both also single-player titles. However, eagle-eyed fans have spotted a new job listing that suggests that Sucker Punch Productions is looking to try something new for its next project.

According to the ad, Sucker Punch is "looking for a Multiplayer/Network Programmer" to join its Bellevue studio. The post details that the hired individual will play a pivotal role in a "spectacular multiplayer game".

Of course, at this point, it's still far too early to tell just what kind of game Sucker Punch Productions is working on. The only thing that we have to go on is what's said on their post. But, then again, it's not nothing.

Video game developers often try their best to keep their unannounced games a secret. However, "leaks" such as these are unavoidable. After all, development studios, just like other employers, use the internet to scour the globe and find the right kind of talent to join their team. As such, putting up job listings on their websites can make it near-impossible to keep details under wraps.

As we mentioned previously, Sucker Punch Productions spent most of the past decade working on Ghost of Tsushima. Considering how big and popular the PlayStation-exclusive has become, it's safe to say that its efforts were not in vain.

The game, which put players in the role of Jin Sakai, won numerous video game awards and even prompted the government of the island of Tsushima to honor two senior members of the game's development team as ambassadors of the real-life island. Additionally, a Ghost of Tsushima movie adaptation is reportedly in the works with the director of the John Wick movies at the helm.

With that said, you can't exactly blame Sucker Punch Productions for starting early. Ghost of Tsushima set a relatively high bar for its next title. But, if it's any consolation, fans already know that the studio has the chops to work on a multiplayer game with the free expansion, Ghost of Tsushima: Legends, receiving a lot of praise since it launched in October 2020.

Here's to hoping that the Ghost of Tsushima developer doesn't make fans wait for another five years for its next video game.
