Assassin's Creed Mirage

Assassin's Creed Mirage is an upcoming action-adventure stealth game developed by Ubisoft Bordeaux and published by Ubisoft. AC Mirage is set to be released on October 12, 2023 for Amazon Luna, Sony PlayStation 4 and PlayStation 5, Microsoft Windows, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S.

It is the thirteenth installment in the Assassin's Creed series and the direct sequel to Assassin's Creed Valhalla in 2020.

Plot and location

The main plot of Assassin's Creed Mirage is that of a coming-of-age story. It is set in Baghdad during the 9th-century and takes place before the events of Assassin's Creed Valhalla.
The game follows the main character Basim Ibn Ishaq from the Assassin's Creed Valhalla, a street thief who becomes a member of the Hidden Ones under his mentor Roshan and is tasked to fight against the Templar Order who enforces the peace by any means necessary.

Baghdad splits into four districts, including Alamut, which serves as a fortress headquarters of the Hidden Ones. The map size of Baghdad is similar to the map of Assassin's Creed Unity and Assassin's Creed Revelations.

Gameplay

Assassin's Creed Mirage showcases elements of parkour, assassination, and stealth gameplay while the plot progression focuses on linear storytelling. The player will take control of Basim to explore the main setting of Baghdad and fight enemies with his arsenal of weapons. Just as with previous Assassin's Creed games, using the environment to your advantage is key to success.

Basim equips his signature weapon, the Hidden Blade, and other throwable items. Improving skill trees will allow Basim to upgrade his weapons and abilities. In Assassin's Creed Mirage, Skill trees are broken into three types: Phantom, Trickster, and Predator.

Aside from himself, Basim can be accompanied by an eastern imperial eagle named Enkidu, who can scout nearby locations and identify targets for him using an Eagle Vision. Though on the downside, Enkidu can easily be shot by enemy archers.

The game also returns the Black Box mission, which were featured in Assassin's Creed Unity and Assassin's Creed Syndicate. The Black Box mission mechanics allows the player to find optional ways to defeat targets. Basim can use scaffolding, blowdarts, traps, and mines to take down enemies. For traveling between areas, Basim can cross big gaps with the use of pole vaults.

Visuals and other features

The game features the Assassin Focus, a new ability that the player can slow down the time and attack multiple enemies all at once.

Ubisoft offers the Assassin's Creed Mirage Edition which includes the haptic suit made from OWO skin that lets players physically feel the actions of Basim when fighting and parkouring. Other items included in this edition include an OWO Device, 20 gel pads, USB Charging cable, Storage pouch, and a game code.

Assassin's Creed Mirage comes in three editions that are available for pre-ordering: Standard, Deluxe, and Collector's Case. The Standard Edition comes with the base game and a pre-order bonus of The Forty Thieves quest.

The Deluxe Edition includes contents from the Standard Edition, plus the Deluxe Pack (including a Prince of Persia inspired outfit), eagle and mount skins, weapons, the official digital artbook and soundtrack.

Finally, the Collector's Case is available at GameStop and the Ubisoft Store. In addition to the items from the Assassin's Creed Mirage Deluxe Edition, it also includes a figurine of Basim, a selected soundtrack of the game,a unique steelbook designed by Assassin's Creed's fans, a replica of Basim's brooch and a Baghdad map.
