Gameloft releases a Disney Speedstorm gameplay reveal trailer during D23 Expo 2022

Ever wanted to race with your favorite Disney and Pixar characters? You won't have to wait much longer.

Gameloft released a trailer for the new upcoming free-to-play kart racer, Disney Speedstorm. Speedstorm is similar to highly-acclaimed racers such as Mario Kart and Team Sonic Racing, but with a unique take on Disney characters and properties. A two-part trailer was shown during the D23 Expo 2022.

The trailer showcased some of the game's most notable characters, including Mickey Mouse, Captain Jack Sparrow, Mulan, Mike Wazowski from Monsters, Inc., and more. The trailer is essentially split into two parts. The first part is more of a cinematic experience, while the second half briefly shows gameplay.

The gameplay reveals that one of the tracks is entirely themed around Monsters, Inc. featuring racers from the same film. Racers showcased include Randall, Celia Mae, and of course, James P. Sullivan.

There is no official release date from Disney yet, but Steam's store page for Speedstorm indicates's a planned 2022 release date. Looking at the trailer, it is clear that the game's development is going well, and fans can expect its arrival to be around the corner.

Speedstorm also went through a closed beta back in June, resulting in many players giving positive feedback.

We can assume that the release date for Disney Speedstorm will be near the holidays or late 2022, but, of course, things can always change. Whether it can contend against other successful kart racers in the market remains unknown. However, from what we have seen so far, the signs are promising.

Disney Speedstorm is one of the first kart-genre titles to be released on PC and could become the pre-eminent kart racer on the platform. To date, the most popular kart racers have been released for Nintendo, such as Mario Kart. This gives Disney Speedstorm an upper hand in the market.

The game will also be available on other platforms, including the PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S.

With an everlasting roster of fan-favorite characters that Disney can bring to the table, the game should have extremely wide appeal. Not to forget that Disney Speedstorm is also free-to-play. It will probably feature a battle pass system similar to how Fortnite and the newly released Multiversus have.

We will know more about the game later this year. As always, Xfire will be on the lookout for any news related to Disney Speedstorm and update you accordingly.
